“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2009

We stayed at the Talisman for 2 weeks in May this year. The weather was perfect and the Hotel really made our stay complete. We hired a car which made things easier in terms of getting to theme parks and other tourist destinations, but the bueses run very regularly so a hire car isn't compulsory.
Location was perfect, it was right opposite the beach and a short stroll to the shops and restaurants. Because we weren't on the main strip of Broadbeach it was really quiet which was great. I definitely recommend Broadbeach compared to Surfers if you are after a bit more of a quieter holiday as Broadbeach is a bit more up market and has is more relaxed.
In terms of the Hotel, it really was great. The staff were friendly, we got a good deal, the rooms were really big, great views, lovely pool, free parking, I really couldn't fault anything.

Northwest apartment had amazing all-round views. It was very spacious and comfortable with all mod cons. We were very close to all amenities and only a few metres from the beach. Wayne and Carole were most helpful and really completed our very enjoyable stay.
We look forward to staying at the Talisman again.

On advise from another TripAdvisor contributor, I booked the Talisman. I posted my requirements - pool, ocean view, etc and this was the recommendation (from a local).

Packed a face washer (as per another reviewer suggested) and to be totally honest that is the only thing missing at the Talisman.!!!!

I figured that we wouldn't want the ocean views at night so opted for the North West view when booking - Ocean views for during the day (when we were actually there), Surfers Paradise views from lounge, hinterland and great night views from kitchen (and other side of balcony) and Broadbeach, Beach and Coolangatta views from the main bedroom. 360 degree perfect views!

The other options are mainly Ocean View and Ocean/Broadbeach/Coolangatta views - ideal if you were hanging around the apartment during the daytime. We only required one bedroom, they simply lock the second bath/bedroom - so it was very roomy.

We were allocated Room 51 on the 17th floor and couldnt find fault. Lovely comfy recliners and Foxtel (to rest the weary Theme Park legs after a warm swim and spa).

Had a brilliant breakfast down at the Karrawa Surf Club (opens at 8am) - not very busy on a weekday morning. Very busy at night though (would need to book - we went on a Wednesday night before 6pm and it was packed).

Only had one other dinner out - Mama Roma in the Broadbeach Mall - 1 meal free when purchasing another - print some dockets before you go at whypayfullprice.com.au. It was lovely food, around the $22-$25 pricepoint for main pasta dish.

We pre-purchased Airport/Themepark Transfers before we left but the public buses serve the parks/shopping centres extremely well. (Mainly from the Gold Coast Highway - however the Seaworld via Surfers Paradise bus is at the end of the mall)

We allowed one day at Seaworld which was enough (again pre-purchased via our AutoClub but they have a deal on up there $99 for 3 parks until late 2010) . 2 days at Dreamworld/Whitewaterworld was right - we had to queue a bit and it wasnt even school holidays - however on the Monday there were more people than our return visit on the Thursday - not sure why - maybe people taking advantage of a long weekend?

Everything you could need is within a short walk of the Talisman, the staff were lovely, pool/spa brilliant and we are planning our return visit already!

Talisman is situated on a corner beachfront block and appears to have been built late 60's - mid 70's. Being an older property, the apartments tend to be larger although dated. If you can get past the "dated" look and "feel" of the property, the Talisman is perfectly located at Broadbeach, it is quiet yet very central and presents a value for money property. I would certainly choose to stay here again.

Recommendation:
1. Ideal property for say 30 to 40+ age group + families
2. Not ideal if you're looking for a romantic getaway or prefer the Hotel "experience" with all the frills and mod cons

Likes:
1. Location is perfect, beachfront, close (100m) to Broadbeach Mall / Shops / Restaurants / Surf Club etc...
2. Value for money (relative to other properties at Broadbeach)
3. Spacious apartment without the frills
4. Good and helpful on site property managers
5. On site large Pool (1.2m to 1.8m), Spa and mod grass Tennis Court
6. On site Parking
7. Foxtel in house (although not all channels included) + DVD player
8. On site BBQ facilities (very handy for families / larger gatherings)
9. 2 Bathrooms

Dislikes:
1. No Air Cond
2. No free in house internet / broadband
3. Not all Foxtel channels are included in house
4. Dated apartments, upgrades to ovens, air cond, taps and fittings, fresh paint and carpets would help (sometimes a "dated" smell in the apartments can be sensed)
5. Limited seating poolside + only 1 Tennis Court and therefore can get "busy" during peak holiday season

We stayed at the Talisman late in July and had two x two bedroom apartments as we there were 7 in our group so seemed more comfortable to have two units. The apartments are very spacious and have the most fantastic views. Our rooms were only on the 5th and 6th floors but were plenty high enough for me and it was a joy to get up every morning and look straight out onto the beautiful beach (of course it didn't hurt that we had absolutely perfect weather while we were there! The location of this building is perfect, 5mins walk (at the most) to the Oasis shopping centre, 2mins walk to Kurrawa Surf Club (great meals there) and 10mins walk to Pacific Fair. The apartments are very comfortably furnished and provide everything you could need for a great holiday. For a family or a group, or even just a couple, I would certainly recommend the Talisman as a great place to stay. So much so that we plan to return next year. The only thing wrong with our holiday was that it was not long enough!!!

We had a fantastic apartment at Talisman. The views were amazing! We could see Coolangatta, Carrara Stadium, Surfers Paradise and the beach. All directions! Every appliance that you could imagine was in the apartment as well as plenty of glasses and plates.
The pool was warm and the tennis court and BBQ were great. The beach, restaurants, entertainment in the Niecon foodcourt, The Oasis, the supermarket, the casino, Pacific Fair and Surfers Paradise were all within an easy walk. Best of all the weather was perfect! I would love to come back!

Just a great location, lovely views, right on beach. Walking distance to shops, casino and heaps of eateries. We spent a week just relaxing.
