“Awesome ocean views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2008

Our family has just enjoyed a fantastic 6 night stay at the Talisman. We stayed in Unit 60 on the 20th floor which has a Nth West aspect. Sunrise visible from the lounge and sunset through the kitchen window. The lounge has stunning views and looks out over the beach and back towards Surfers Paradise. There is a huge dining table and recliner lounge suite. Foxtel (satellite TV) is available as well as a DVD player. The kitchen has a fantastic view to Surfers and towards the West with awesome sunsets over the hills. The main bedroom has a view back down the beach towards Coolangatta. Our apartment was clean, tidy, spacious, quiet and fairly recently refurbished. All appliances in the kitchen were new and in excellent condition. It was great to have an option of dish washing liquid as well as dishwasher detergent as we preferred not to use the machine (water conservation). Sufficient sachets of tea and coffee were provided but UHT milk pottles rather than fresh. Although there is quite a bit of construction in Broadbeach we never heard any noise. However, the rubbish trucks come around 6am and I was always awake to hear them.

Resort facilities are excellent. The pool is awesome and extremely warm, so warm that we were swimming at 8am every morning. It is about 1.2M at the shallow end and 1.8M at the deep end. There is a spa attached to the pool and a barbeque area nearby. Tennis courts are available for hire and can be used under floodlight. A sauna is available for males and females but we never used them. A security key must be used at all times to gain access to the pool area. The beach is a couple of minutes walk across the road and has a patrolled area. A park is also right across the road with facilities for the little kids. Oasis shopping mall is 5 mins walk away and has a Woolworths supermarket. A smaller foodmarket is located a few blocks North on the Gold Coast highway for after hours grocery necessities.

We had a little bit of a hassle getting in as we arrived at 5pm on a Sunday and could not find a number to call for Reception. We had missed the phone number in the doorway as guests were exiting as we went in. We eventually found it and managed to get into the after hours key safe. Everyone on Reception was very welcoming and chatty - a real family atmosphere. Overall our stay was fantastic and exactly what we had been looking for. We paid AUD$990 for 6 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment which I feel was certainly excellent value for money.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2008

We just spent 3 nights at the Talisman in March and we can't rate it highly enough!! absolute beach front with fantastic views!
We had a 2 bdrm apartment on floor 16 (apartment 49)
it had a big kitchen, huge living room with the best views in town - we could see down to Coolangatta out the balcony on the right and up to Surfers from the left balcony.
The pool is a resonably good size and fairly deep - and is heated, and the spa was pretty good also.
Our apartment had a wide screen TV with Foxtel (digital TV), but I'm not sure if all apartments are the same or not, ours had also recently been refurbished.
The apartment had a full kitchen and all appliances necessary to cook a decent meal if you need to. We had air conditioning in the lounge and a large fan in the main bedroom
The Talisman is just a short 2 min stroll to the beach and about 3-4 min walk to the Oasis Mall - where they have all shops you'll need - plus the whole area is surrounded by good restaurants. We found that some restaurants offered half price / cheaper meal deals if you got there early and ordered (before 6pm?)
Their office closes at midday on a Saturday, but we got there just after 11am on a Saturday and were able to check in to our room straight away.
They have great security there - keys for everything! - you cannot get to the car park or even the pool without your keys.

We would definately stay at the Talisman again if we come back to the Gold Coast.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2007

I booked a 2 bed, 2 bathroom apartment via the internet, and the people at Talisman were most obliging with my requests (early check-in, high floor). The email replies were prompt and very helpful. Location-wise, Talisman is excellent. It's only a 5-minute stroll to the beach and the Oasis mall (which has Woolworths supermarket). Being Broadbeach, the area is not as busy as Surfer's paradise, and the views from the apartment are not blocked by any high-rise buildings. The apartment we had was U62, and the balcony, kitchen and bedroom face the sea, so all you see when you wake up is the sun rising from the sea (if you wake up early enough, that is!). The apartment itself is well-maintained, and although the decor is not modern like the newer developments like Air, it didn't matter as I was more concerned with being able to cook proper meals for my family and providing them with a comfortable stay. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, convection oven, microwave oven, kettle and they even provide you with some 'starters' like coffee, tea, sugar and dishwashing liquid to last a few days. The apartment also has a laundry room with a washer and dryer. There is cable TV and a DVD player in the living room, and each bedroom has a radio/alarm clock. The apartment is cleaned once a week, which may not be to everyone's preference, but it was okay with us. The building has its own pool, jacuzzi, sauna, tennis courts (with equiptment for hire) and barbeque area. We stayed there just as summer was beginning (late Nov), and already the bedrooms were hot during the day. Be warned that the bedrooms in U62 have fans but are not air-conditioned, and I would imagine the bedrooms would be much hotter at the height of summer. Only the living room has an airconditioner. Overall, my family and I really felt at home at the Talisman, and we're surprised that no one had ever posted a review before. I have to thank firebucket for his recommendation on Tripadvisor's forums as it was right on the money. It was well worth the AUS$160 a night that we paid for our 10-day stay.
