“Average Gold Coast dated accommodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

I stayed here for 3 nights. The rate was quite affordable considering the lateness of my booking.

I had no real complaints with the place. The lobby areas and pools were well maintained. The staff were professional, if their practices were not - they charge stupid % credit card fees which will hopefully be illegal soon.

The apartment was beginning to become old & tired, especially the bathroom - which had a foul, persistent stench, so we had to leave the window open constantly.

They advertise it as being close the casino - which it is as the crow flies. But the walk to actually get to the casino is considerable. Staying further north would be better if that is what you want.

But for what I paid, I was happy enough. I'd never book here for a holiday, but as a crash pad for a couple of nights at broadbeach it was comfortable and sufficient.

Hi TrySmiling
Thanks for your review. I am sorry about the smell in the bathroom which is very unusual. I would really appreciate it if you could send me an email to mark@belairbroadbeach.com.au identifying the room number or name on the booking so we can investigate that. I am surprised at you comments about the distance to the Casino as most of our guests find it to be a very easy walk of about 500 metres.
The credit card charges are an unfortunate cost of doing business that simply have to be covered. If the card holder is not charged on a user pays basis then business have to cover that cost by increasing prices across the board so that guests who pay by other means end up subsidising those who pay by credit card. To be honest I don't like credit card surcharges either but I recognise that businesses are only covering their costs and I avoid them by paying by EFTPOS where I can. We are more than happy for our guests to pay by EFTPOS which incurs no such fee.
Our resort is only 13 years old built in a Mediterranean style rather than a "stone and glass" modern style. We pride ourselves in keeping our rooms up to date and will continue to update them. For example, we have just introduced a brand new electronic lock system throughout the resort.

We just spent 5 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment. Highly recommend these apartments. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom. TV in lounge as well as the kid room meant we could all watch what we wanted in the evening. Being across the road from Pacific fair was great for doing a quick grocery shop and cooking easy meals for tea. A must after the cost of buying lunch at the theme parks.
Free parking underneath was very welcome. Weather was a little cool but this didn't stop us being able to have a swim each evening as there is an indoor pool as well as the large outdoor pool.
Would definatly stay here again.

Just spent a lovely week here at the start of January with my partner (we are 22). Upon arrival the reception staff were AMAZING, even better than what i've experienced overseas) and the room was even ready early despite the towers being fully booked. Had the top level in the middle tower which semi overlooked the beach and had a great pool view. The rooms were clean and spacious (im a clean freak) however as said in other reviews you can opt to have it serviced for a fee or you can quite easily head over to Pacific Fair get a couple of towels from kmart for $5 each and alternate these in the washing machine. This was great for us, we also got some cleaning supplies to last us the week which again was cheaper than the service. Also loved the facilities in terms of cooking, this was great if you didn't want to head out every single night to eat. The towers themselves are directly opposite Pacific Fair and is also a short walk to the food area near Peppers Apartments, Jupiters Casino, Draculas and also the Oasis Shopping Centre. The security within the complex was great, had to use the key buzzer thing for all entries and realistically this is the way places should be. Would feel very safe If i had children! Although it was peak time the pool was not packed I saw a maximum of maybe 10 people! The pool is so lovely and very resort-ish if thats your style. I really feel these apartments suit every type. We paid the extra and had the deluxe apartment types so that incorporated 2 balconies and what I thought from the photos were nicer furnishings, however for a family on a budget so to speak the usual apartment room would be great too because I have stayed in these in the past. The other bonus is the transport around - Pacific Fair is where you can get buses from easily and people can help you but also lots of taxi's around. If you plan on doing any trips during the day just go down and see the ladies on the desk, nothing was a trouble and they will help you out. Maybe a downfall for other people is the wifi? which is not accessible throughout the entire complex? Didn't worry me. I believe there were places you could access wifi, the cafe was a definite, maybe check with the ladies! Loved the atmosphere here, would return.

Room Tip: Up high overlooking the pool or beach would definitely make the trip a bit better. all 3 towers abov...

Dear Mariel
Thanks so much for your kind words. Our front desk team is fantastic and they will be thrilled to read your feedback.
I note your comments about the wi-fi which we have available in the foyer areas but only cable internet in the rooms. Don't worry...this will be fixed very soon so hopefully will not be a problem when you return.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at this property. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment in the Central Tower on the Fifth floor overlooking the pool. The check in was very quick with a friendly staff member. Our apartment was a good size, in very good condition and was fully equipped with everything you needed including a washing machine and dryer. The shower was over the bath but did have a very secure rail to hold on to. There was a balcony off the lounge with a table and chairs and another off the bedroom. There was air conditioning in the main living area but none in the bedroom but a fan is provided. There are both indoor and outdoor pools and a spa. The complex is very clean and secure. Any staff we met always acknowledged us. This is a self contained apartment so only cleaned weekly but you do have the option of paying for more frequent servicing. I personally like not being disturbed. The location is opposite Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. There is a bus stop right outside. The beach is about a 5 minute walk. There is plenty of free secure parking, a small supermarket, and bottle shop are also part of the complex. There is an on site coffee shop. The Casino is about a ten minute walk away. There are several restaurants close by and the Oasis and the main shopping/restaurant area of Broadbeach are about the same distance. I have no hesitation in recommending this property and will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Pool or sea view.

My four year old son and I stayed for 4 nights in December 2013 and neither of us wanted to go home! The location couldn't be better! Right across the road from Pacific Fair shopping centre, Draculas and you can even see the casino just a little way up the road (not that I could take my 4 year old to the Casino but its right there if you are interested).

We had a one bedroom apartment in the North Tower and the room was very clean and comfortable and well equipped with everything you might need and more. There were three balconies and an abundance of windows which meant the place was full of light and we always had a great view of the all the surrounds.

The pool area is just fabulous! Plenty of room for everyone to sit and relax and I believe the pools are heated so the temperature is just perfect! We were in there for hours.

The staff were all wonderful and went out of their way to help you any way that they could.

I have been to the Gold Coast numerous times and am usually disappointed with our accommodation and never return to the same place but let me tell you I will most definitely be returning to the Bel Air.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights over the New Year period after scoring a terrific deal on lastminute.com.au. Located opposite Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, the Bel Air is a brisk 10 minute walk to the main Broadbeach eating area around the Oasis shopping centre and Surf Pde. There is a convenience store at the base of the hotel which was good for (over priced) essentials. It is not beachfront, being set two blocks back from the beach; we were able to walk along the sand to Surfers Paradise at twilight which was lovely. The rooms were nicely appointed. Ours overlooked the impressive pool area with two balconies from the Central Tower. There was a decent kitchen (which wasn't 100% clean upon arrival unfortunately), good sized TV, much needed air conditioning and an extremely comfy bed and handy washing machine/dryer complete with airing rack. The staff were extremely friendly both at the front desk and in the small café in the East Tower. Car parking was readily available and the key fob system that had been recently implemented made it easy to get around the whole complex. We noticed that after a particularly hot day that the pool was quite dirty but it seemed fine the following day. As a childless couple, we found that the their were a lot of kids running rampant through the place (especially around the pool area) so would recommend this more for families as opposed to having a quiet escape for two. Overall, very pleased with this and would consider returning if needing to stay in Broadbeach.

Room Tip: Try and get one in a higher position to score some views.

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to provide such positive feedback. As you quite correctly state we are not direct beachfront but only a very short stroll away (100-200 metres). One advantage of this is that the sound of the ocean is a pleasant background noise rather than deafening of course!
I note that you visited during our peak family holiday period when the pool is very popular with children. Most of the time however, the pool is quiet and in fact we are very popular with older travellers as well.
We look forward to hosting you again soon.

Another great visit to Bel Air, just 4 nights this time because it was booked out. Room and resort spotless as always. Tram construction outside now finished so the whole area looking it's best again. New electronic tag key system made getting around the resort really simple and very safe for the children.

Dear Alex
Thanks for this great review. I am glad you like the new lock system. It certainly improves our security and is much easier for everyone to use. The tram/light rail is almost operational and we are very excited to see it in action as it will only improve our gusts' experience with the station right across the road.
