“Not bad for $34 a night!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2009

There were 6 of us celebrating end of Uni. We went for 6 nights, so we booked a 3 bedroom apartment.

On arrival, staff were so friendly and most helpful - they answered all our questions and were very approachable. The reception doubled as an information desk and there was a wall of brouchers and vouchers.

The apartment:

(+) Great location: firstly, it was away from schoolies! But also, it was around 200m walk to the bus stops we needed, of which took us to all the major attractions, ie, theme parks, harbour town, pacific fair, casino, Surfer's etc.
(+) Beach was a 2 min walk away
(+) Very comformtable living space - couches were so comfy!
(+) Kitchen was adequate: had a lot of utensils and equipment, dishwasher, oven,
microwave, toaster, kettle etc
(+) Beds were clean and comfortable
(+) Had a DVD player and and the TV aired FOX8
(+) Good air conditioning
(+) Pool was really nice
(+) 5min walk away from Woolworths, many cafes/restaurants, a NAB atm, and the
(+) Got given two sets of keys for apartment
(+) Good wardrobe space and coat hangers provided
(+) Salt and pepper provided!
(+) 3 bedrooms: 1) two single beds 2) one single, one double 3) one queen

(-) Limited supplies: only one tea towel in the kitchen, one hand towel in the bathroom,
one roll of toilet paper, one sachet of dishwashing liquid/detergent, no tablets for
dishwasher, no tissue box in the living room, no additional garbage bags etc.
(-) Fan in our rooms was very dusty and not clean on the inside
(-) Bathroom was stained and appeared very old
(-) Only given one bath towel each bed
(-) Wasn't a high rise apartment, so the view was of the high rise apartments. lol
(-) Relatively quiet during the night, but occasional hoon drivers on roads nearby
(-) Some of the cutlery was not clean, or didn't appear clean, so I advise you wash
everything before use.

Markham Court Apartments are not bad. Be prepared to buy most of your own supplies such as dishwashing equipment, coffee, tea, milk, soap for the bathroom, hand towel, tissue box, garbage bags etc.

It only cost us $34 a night, so I guess you get what you pay for. It's not a 5 star apartment, but it is comfortable enough to eat and sleep in. The kitchen was adequate for our cooking needs because we made our own breakfast and dinner every night. The bathroom catered for 5 girls so it can't of been that bad!

Hope this helps!

We stayed at Markham Court late Sept 2009 - 2 adults and 2 teenagers (15 and 16) On arrival we found the air conditioning an extra $5 per day and should we want broadband wireless internet it would be $8 per hour - accessed via our credit card and the hour had to be used in one block - at the shopping centre the cost was $2 per 21 minutes! We found the one dishwashing sachet and one dishwasher sachet a bit miserable - tea/coffee/sugar the same. One towel per person for the five days (no facecloths or handtowels). Basic necessities for a premium price - we felt a bit robbed when we found out what others had paid for similar estabablishments - shop around and find a better deal. Next time we will do a bit more research!

We appreciate your feedback but we are surprised that this has been posted as we believed that we sorted any misunderstanding out when you left. It was explained to you that the deal you booked did not include Air-Con. We are a 3.5 star resort and therefor can not supply face towels etc... We supplied you with complementary coffee, tea, sugar, dishwashing liquid, washing up powder etc... People have to remember that you can not expect Five Star service in a 3.5 star resort. It was also explained that the Wireless Internet was provided by an outsourcing company. Guests contact this company directly and do not book their time through us. Our resort is well know to offer good value for money and overall we receive many compliments on this.

We stayed at Markham Court for 3 nights for a family weekend and were fairly disappointed with the accommodation. There were 8 of us and we stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment. The space was bright and open and comfortably fit the 8 of us but was very dated. The carpet was worn and the bath and showers were stained. We didn't use the air conditioning as they charged daily for it's use. They gave us hardly any tea, coffee, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher powder and toilet paper and wanted to charge us for extra so we just bought our own. There were notes in the apartment showing the inventory and stating that we would be charged if everything wasn't there when we left, however not everything was there when we arrived. The location was good - only a few minutes walk to the beach and the centre of Broadbeach and the casino (probably 15 minutes walk to the casino). It doesn't really compare with the newer apartment buildings but I guess it's a bit cheaper.

Stayed at the Markham Apartments in Broadbeach last week.
We booked over the internet expecting a decent 2 bedroom apartment.
We were travelling with two adults and three children unfortunately the apartment we were allocated was very dated with worn furniture and carpet. The pool was also meant to be heated but it turned out to have very little heat.
Overall the Markham is very dated and in need of updating. On the plus side it is centrally located and the staff were friendly. (One thing which was annoying was the supply of towels 5 towels were supplied which were very very worn and if you needed extra towels for the spa or pool there was a rental charge).
