We stayed at Mantra Sierra Grand Saturday 23rd June 2012 for 3 nights, in a 2 bedroom ocean view apartment.
We were extremely disappointed in the hotel, and would not stay at another Mantra again.
Check in was smooth. They hold a $200 deposit which is refunded back to your bank account in around 5 days after checkout. The ladies were very pleasant to deal with.
We were allocated room 2404.
On the surface it looked nice, however when we tried to put the aircon on, as the room was very stuffy, it would not work. On checking why, reception advised that the airconditioning is turned off in the whole building as of the 1st of June until the warmer weather later in the year, and only heat was avaialable. We could not believe it and had to double check. With 2 young kids, you dont want the doors to the balcony opened all the time. It was very unpleasant, and unbearable to sleep in such conditions. We had to request pedestal fans.
The drinking glasses and dishes were disgusting, Lipstick marks, oily marks over the glasses. They had not been cleaned.
The inside of the balcony glass was filthy.
Large mould spots on the roof above the bath was less than impressive to sit and look up at.
Toilietries were missing, there was no bars of soap and no dish cloths in the kitchen. The toilet paper roll had less than 1/4 left on it, and there were no backups in the cupboards.
We were then very close to checking out without staying a night.
We were then offered to change rooms, and were given room 2205. The view from this room was beautiful, however the cleanliness was again below par. The fry pan was filthy and had not been washed at all. There is large amounts of dust on the fan in the ensuite. No TV in the main bedroom. Cuttlery was dirty.
Overall, I believe the condition of the rooms is due to the fact that they want you as the guest, to do your dishes before you checkout or could face penalties. Obviously no one is checking to make sure they are clean. The housekeeping staff are seriously needing more training, and the superviors are needing to check the rooms once supposedly cleaned.

Location was great, right opposite Pacific Fair.
The heated indoor pool was un bearable for swimming, it was hotter than the spa, no air flow what so ever down there. The kids who you usually had to drag from the pool could not wait to get out. Their cheeks were bright red and they were getting dehydrated.
The outdoor pool, which is supposed to be heated, according to their website was like ICE!
No Pay TV in the rooms.
Water pressure and temperature left a lot to be desired. If you want a hot shower, put the shower on, go make a cuppa and by the time you get back, it should almost be hot. Water pressure is shocking, and although there may be water saving devices on, you use more water whilst trying to get it hot. Forget about trying to fill the bath and expecting it to be hot.
The underground car park is dangerous. There is a huge lack of signage and there were many times when we had close calls with other cars.
We were extremely disappointed with the hotel, and would not stay here again. I would highly recommend you to book somewhere else.

I am fully aware of the issues as my team have since informed me. I believe we did room move you and your family so you could enjoy your time here.
Unfortunaltey our air conditioning system is set up that the whole builidng needs to either be on heat or cool.
With regards to the cleaning concerns , this has been brought to the attention of the regional housekeeping manager , we are working on this concern.
We do have have Austar in all the units , I am suprised to hear your comment.
I hope we can try to show you the holiday you wanted inthe near future.
