Western Ireland, the Aran Islands and the Ring of Kerry were very lovely. I took a bus tour with CIE Tours. They were very professional and our guide/driver Sean was excellent. We started in Dublin and ended in Dublin but the part of the trip I thought was best was the western part of Ireland. We did see the book of Kells in Dublin and it is impressive to say the least. We went to Knowth burial grounds which were also very cool.
The Cliffs of Moher were gorgeous though they disappeared only moments after we arrived behind the fastest moving fog I have ever encountered. The Slieve League cliffs were excellent. Another highlight was the Rock of Cashel. Very nice. We also saw several decent castles and lots of ruins.
Favorite town/city we stopped in was Kilarney. A very charming little place and the ride on the Jaunting cars was sweet. We went to a local pub sat with a local and listened to sojme pretty good music. Shopped in an eclectic variety of shops in amongst the typical touristy shops.
Overall I highly recommend selecting a CIE tour if you want to see Ireland and make sure your tour spends some quality time in the western part of the country. It is very easy on the eyes.
