“Petit France in Herefordshire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

Yet another wonderful experience.
Cedric serves up superb food, very French in style which I love.
He takes seasonal ingredients and lets them do the talking.
A short menu (a compliment) of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 puddings still makes it difficult for me to choose - I want all 3!
We had lunch last Friday (11th July) eating out on the terrace, with spectacular views over the Golden Valley and potager, where vegetables, herbs and fruits are growing and being picked.
The wine list is of note, as there is an excellent selection at very reasoanble prices. Try the dry Jurancon, which has now become a firm favourite.
Service is French as well - quietly efficient and happy to be there, I can't fault it.
A very special place that deserves all the praise it gets.

“Gallic Elegance Deep in the Herefordshire Countryside.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

Entirely French in cuisine and feel. The chef/owner, Cedric, constantly in attendance. We visited on the 11th July and the weather was perfect. Late evening sun and everyone out on the extensive terrace to eat whilst enjoying a view stretching for miles (we guessed about 10) over the Herefordshire countryside and adjoining areas, whilst a younger member of staff watered the vegetables growing in the beds immediately adjacent.

We mostly dined on crab and lobster (starters) and local lamb (main course), in nouvelle cuisine style. We also had a bottle of Ducru Beaucaillou 1976 (!!!) with the lamb. I was somewhat concerned about what condition such an old wine might be in knowing nothing of its provenance or storage etc., but it was just fine (although I think another 4-5 years would have seen it going past its best).

Quite a decent cheese board with a mixture of different cheese styles. If you intend to have cheese they like to know early so that they don't have to serve it to you chilled straight from the fridge. Very reassuring.

“Better than ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

It's been almost a year since we last visited this delightful gem in the wilds of west Herefordshire and we've been having serious withdrawal symptoms. It's none too easy to get a reservation there these days as the restaurant is so often fully booked, but it deserves to be so and the only thing to do seems to be to call and ask the excellent Chef-Propriétaire Cédric when one can visit! On this occasion we were lucky in getting a table for two at short notice because of a cancellation. It's a pity that it's open only for lunch and dinner three days a week (Thursday through Saturday), but that's a price worth paying for such unalloyed pleasure as is Toi et Moi's hallmark.

It's the kind of restaurant where one feels a wonderful sense of enjoyment just being there even before being handed the menus and carte des vins. This was the first time that we've actually eaten on the terrace outside the restaurant, although we have had apéritifs there previously; the weather was perfect for this today and sitting at a table right next to the now well developed garden that provides so much splendid produce for the restaurant is a delight all its own.

Apéritif du jour, all three courses, the wine and the service were faultless; we were neither rushed nor were there hiatuses - timings were just right throughout. We've not enjoyed a finer meal anywhere since last we went to Toi et Moi. For what is without doubt by far the finest restaurant in Herefordshire Cédric and Dawn deserve a medal!

Do I have a criticism? Yes - just one - the sheer inadequacy of my French! I feel as though I should abandon English immediately on arrival! It's the kind of place to which it would be great to bring French friends.

Altogether wonderful - we cannot speak highly enough of this lovely restaurant!

“Happy Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

We had heard so much with regards to this lovely restaurant from friends of ours who have been a number of times and also know the owners. Staff were friendly, attentive and warm. The restaurant light but cosy with a fantastic atmosphere and the food was superb from the starters to the cheese. I was especially taken by the Mascarpone and Passion Fruit mousse which was to die for. We will definitely go back and would recommend to friends if they find themselves in the area. Thank you for making our evening so good.

“Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

We ate here on the first night of our honeymoon (we were staying at their cottages at Holling Grange).
We are so thankful they managed to squeeze us in as the food here was better than anything we have ever tasted. We probably wont taste better food or have better service for a long long time! I loved the snails that I tried, and so did my partner who is normally not keen on more unusual foods!
We will most certainly be visiting again whenever we are in the area! You cannot miss trying this place!
