We were debating whether to take this tour or not when we were up at Mt. Cook. The main reason is it is very PRICEY especially when we have four adults. After read all the reviews on Tripadvisor and asked some questions, we decided to take a hike to get as close to the glacier as possible. We drove to the carpark from the hotel and walk to the glacier view lookout. Form there we can see the glacier and the Tasman Lake. We did not see the white ice on the glacier because the glacier was covered by a layer of dust or mud since it was very windy in the valley (please read some reviews in Dec.2012). We did not see a lot of icebergs floating on the lake either. Tasman lake was just a plain, small lake, not beautiful as the most glacier lakes do. The photos from the company website are so appealing and attractive. But we doubt those tourists who paid a lot of money can see those views on the photos.
