5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012

Saw this on our way to Twizel and booked a night for our return trip to Christchurch. It is a lovely home and the owner is a warm and very hospitable lady. Guests have lovely rooms and the use of a well appointed lounge. Meals in nearby Geraldine, 500m, or last minute last resort hot food from the dairy nearby. Welcomed with a hot drink and date loaf. Breakfast in a lovely sunny front room and as-always a great place to chat with other guests. This is a little gem !!! Do stop in !!!

We spent a relaxing night at this beautiful Bed and Breakfast. A prompt and gracious welcome was lovely, as was the special addition of decaffeinated teas for me at my husband's request. Sharon had decorated the historic home with beautiful antiques and small touches.

There were only two things that could have brought this accomodation from wonderful to really outstanding. The first of these would have been the offer of a cooked breakfast of some kind. What was laid for breakfast was a light continental spread, and much of it quite sugary. As I am unable to eat sugar or artificial sweetners, breakfast was very light indeed for me. The simple offer of a few eggs or truly sugar-free yogurt and fresh fruit would have set me up for the day. Pots of tea, rather than a refill of cups would be appreciated. As many travelers to NZ are UK-based, I am sure a lovely cooked breakfast, even a few simple eggs and a link of sausage would be a dazzling addition.

The other small downside was that internet was not on offer, even for payment. I appreciate that it is nice to Wget away from it all," but being far from home, I had some time-sensitive bills to pay online, and was eager for an email message from family. All 4 and 5 star accomodation nowadays has internet on offer. We understand that the property is for sale, so the management will likely change soon, and these issues will likely be transfered to new hands.

Saying all that, we would very gladly stay in the management's new venture! It was clear that Sharon was working hard to make us comfortable and to offer a gracious stay. A little more attention to food and drink would bring her service to a 5-star level.

Room Tip: Our room with the bay window seat was among the most beautiful room in which I have ever stayed. The...

We stayed here one night en route back to Christchurch. Quaint, oldie-woldie style B&B with lots of character and charm. Amenable host with local knowledge. Delicious onion and black currant jelly for breaky.

We spent one night in the Tui Room at Victoria Villa during our three week driving tour of the SI of NZ.

We found the B&B inviting and friendly. Our room was equipped with a comfortable queen bed and electric fireplace which kept us sufficiently warm on a very cold winter's evening. The room has a large bathroom, with good shower pressure (which we always appreciate!), and much needed heating. The room also has two armchairs and a small overhead TV, as well as a tea and coffee making area. The wood floor is lovely, as is the decorative ceiling.

A cooked breakfast was included in the rate and we enjoyed visiting with the hosts and the other guests.

The only drawback was the street noise, as our room faced a rather busy street. Fortunately, we were too tired to really care, having just arrived from an overnight flight.

After a change of plans, due to the earthquake, we made Geraldine our first stop on our holiday and it was just lovely. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful with local knowledge. We started our morning with a wonderful home style full breakfast and very tasty home made jams, just the start to a cold day. Cosy, warm and welcoming a great place to stay!

The perfect end to a long day's driving. After having a flight cancelled out of Queenstown, we had to drive to Christchurch to fly out the next day. A stop at the Victoria Villa in Geraldine was perfect. The room was spacious and warm and the hosts friendly without being intrusive. The breakfast in the morning was big and delicious and the hosts were a delight. We enjoyed ourselves so much we didn't want to leave...can't wait to get back there again soon...

Geraldine is a good option for a sleep over, when driving from Queenstown to CHCH.
And Victoria Villa is a GREAT option for the B&B service, providing nice and comfortable room, clean & tidy, and also with their hospitality.

You will enjoy having breakfast in the morning with their host :)
