My bf and I booked a room at this motel this past long weekend, and right from jump, we had a bad experience. To begin with, the owner decided to round our bill up by a dollar! What the hell is that?! Next, the room: the bed was super high, the room was boiling, and there were holes everywhere in the walls. We were not told that "maid service" came with the room, but, to our surprise it did, though, I'm not sure it could be called that because the same dirty hair was lying on the bathroom floor from when we arrived to when we left.
The locks on the outer door seemed to have a mind of their own; they'd lock when they wanted or not. One of the or not times happened when a stranger boldly walked in to our room. We didn't feel safe. Moreover, there was a strange storage cupboard in our room which, if left open, accessed about 4 other rooms.
We had brought wood with us from camping, and were told, very rudely, that if we did want to make a fire, the fire would have to be for everyone, and so we would have to share our wood. We never got the chance to make a fire because our wood got stolen, and a there was big fire in the fire pit the night when we realized this fact. Earlier that day, after returning from a hike, we saw the owner, who "acknowledged" us by giving us a very cold grimace. What kind of hospitality is that?
Finally, the loud, obnoxious guests added to the overall crap experience we had. The day we were leaving, we went out to our car to find it had been deeply scratched up on both the roof and the trunk. That was the final straw for us. Not only was the service and atmosphere terrible, but so were the facilities and the overall experience.

This review is nonsense. We do not round up customer’s bills even by $1. This customer’s bill may have been rounded up from a $0.97 cents to the dollar because in Canada we have phased out the penny.

The beds are a little higher because they are “brand new luxury pillow top beds” There only 4” – 6” higher than a normal non luxury bed and are easy to get on and off, In my opinion there easier than a normal height bed to get on and off and much more comfortable.
There are no holes in our walls, it’s a brand new facility and the entire building was just freshly painted in April of 2013.
There was no dirty hair on their bathroom floor; our rooms are meticulously cleaned after each use. If a mistake was made and hair was missed, considering the extent of their complaint I’m sure they would have told us about it. This customer doesn’t seem like the kind of person to just live with it.
As for this customer’s claim that their room was too hot, all of our rooms are equipped with air conditioners and our staff noted on their account that there fireplace was left on all day with heat turned on, day after day despite us turning it off for them. We began to assume they like it that warm. If they weren’t sure how to use the air conditioner and fire place why didn’t they ask? We would have been happy to help them.
As for being walked in on, It wasn’t staff that did this, so If they left their door unlocked and another guest accidently opens the door to their room, we can’t be responsible for that. People make mistakes and if they weren’t not sure how to use the standard door lock, why didn’t they ask us to show them. What they are most likely, really upset about is that another guest accidently walked in on them while making love. The guest came to the office and felt very, very badly and apologized to us. Had these customers talked to us about this, we would have conveyed the other guests sincere apology.
The linen closest to access the room requires a key, they are not left open.
I cut and provide firewood free to all of our guests personally. I always have a generous supply near the fire pit. We have one fire pit for all of our guests and it would be selfish of you to not share the really large fire pit with the other guests who may want to sit around it too. A bon fire is like a lake, lots of people can enjoy it simultaneously, especially one the size of ours. However if they were hoping to have a private fire, again, why didn’t they just ask us, I would have made them a private fire pit somewhere else on our 100 acres of property. As for the wood issue, they decided to pile there wood in our common area near the fire pit, how are our other guests supposed to know that’s not ours? All fire wood looks the same.
I’m not even going to respond to the scratches on their car comment, were most certainly not in the business of scratching customer’s cars.
We are very sad that you decided to take your complaints to a public forum after the fact instead of giving us the opportunity to help you with them while we could still do something to help fix the situation and hopefully help you have a great trip.
