“Great apartments, friendly hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

We've stayed with our kid at Andrijana apartments in May this year for 10 days. Apartment number 5 was a great choice: great views, a lot of space, extremely clean, fully equipped, with fast WiFi and at a reasonable price. After we tasted the delicious and abundant breakfast on the day 1 (which Andrijana's mum prepared) we decided not to use our kitchen at all, although it didn't lack anything (as described in one of previous posts).

Family that runs apartments was really friendly starting with kindly picking us up at the airport, welcome drinks, to every day availability when we needed something. Son gave us a lift to and from the airport, Mum (ex pro chef) was preparing us great dinner dishes we were served at very very reasonable price (highly recommended), daughter Andrijana was really helpful and quick in responding while we were inquiring at the beginning.

Location was a very good base to go to the beach in Mlini or making daily journeys to Dubrovnik and Cavtat (both at 15 minutes). If you stay with young kid(s) check out beautiful playground in Mlini just above the beach. You'll find a simple restaurant adjacent which makes for a lunch (go for white Posip house wine).

Room Tip: Go for top apartments - don't miss the view.

I booked these apartments following another great trip advisor review and I was not disappointed. The apartments are very clean, well equipped and a reasonable size compared to others which we looked at. We stayed in room no3, a ground floor room with a veranda underneath a beautiful grape vine. From the veranda there was a fantastic sea view. The apartments are ideally located for the bus stop, where you can catch the bus to Dobrovnik and Cavtat. The beach is a short walk (slightly longer coming back as there are numerous steps, but this was good for burning the extra calories!) Mlini was a great place to stay, its very quiet and peaceful, with a handful of restaurants and bars and close enough to Dobrovnik, where there are numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Its also very easy to get around by water taxi in Mlini and there are a number of trips that can be arranged from the harbour. We look forward to returning!

Previous review is spot on. Really enjoyed our stay at Andrijana apartments. When we arrived we were met by the daughter who spoke great English and who gave us some fruit (picked from their own garden/orchard) and some juice. Our room was clean, spacious and contained pretty much everything we needed (pots, pans, cuttlery, fridge, two cooking rings). Didn't have a kettle or oven/grill/toaster which could be an inconvenience for some people...we had no problems heating up water in a pan whenever we needed a cup of tea and were quite happy eating bread, fruit and cheese on the balcony area whenever we required a snack! However, if you stayed in these apartments expecting to cook proper meals, you would struggle. Like the previous review, I regret not asking the mother to cook for us as I saw the family eating their evening meal one evening and it looked fab! In terms of restaurants and bars in Mlini, there aren't loads in Mlini itself but there are a sufficient number to keep you going...they tend to be very relaxed and laid back as opposed to being lively. Wish I could remember the names of the restaurants that we ate at during our stay; we had one fantastic dining experience and one negative one. If you walk down from the apartments as if you were heading to the beach but turn left instead you will come across a road which takes you along the coast and which has a few discreet restaurants on. One of these restaurants has a small outside seeting area across the road from it which looks out directly on to the sea/rocks. From this first floor restaurant you also got the beautiful views. Food was lovely...I was able to choose which fish I wanted and it was cooked to perfection. Very ample portions, lovely ambience and extremely attentive but unobtrusive service. However, we also ate at another restaurant (when walking from the apartments you come to this before the restaurant I just mentioned). This restaurant was set back slightly and you had to climb some outside stairs to get to it. The restaurant was kind of like an undercover roof garden and it appeared to popular (you could usually hear diners in the restaurant from the road). However, the food was really disappointing and the service was poor (in fact, the waiting staff couldn't have seemed less interested in us and it takes me a lot to be negative about service). Also, the food and wine was more expensive than the previously mentioned restaurant. Obviously, if you want a wider choice Dubrovnik isn't too far away (just over twenty mins by bus. Nearest bus stop to the apartments is less than 5 mins walk away. Located near to newspaper kiosk and shops on the way down to the beach). I would also recommend that you visit Cavtat (about 20 mins away by bus) as it offers a nice compromise between The hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik and the peace and quiet of Mlini. Cavtat has more bars and restaurants than Mlini (ranging from authentic Croatian places on the harbour to some rather touristy/Britishy ones), a few souvenir shops, ice cream parlours etc.

Mlini itself is pretty, quiet and has a subdued kind of feel which made it a perfect setting for exploring the surrounding areas. However, if you enjoy a more vibrant nightlife I would suggest that you look at staying in the Cavtat area, although then you would be further away from Dubrovnik!!! Decisions, decisions!

We've recently returned from a one week stay in the Andrijana Apartments in Mlini and can highly recommend the accommodation. Upon arrival we were met by the owner's brother and mother, who within minutes produced a jug of iced lemon drink and a bowl of fresh figs. Both of which were delicious! The two of us stayed in one of the ground floor apartments which had all the basics; a very clean well equipped kitchen, a TV, lots of clean towels and air con, an essential when it's 27ºC in the middle of the night! The outside patio, complete with grapevines and fruit tree, has a fantastic view of the sea and distant islands. A great place to sit and eat your breakfast.
The apartments are only 5 minutes from the harbour and beach in Mlini, which is down a steepish hill (This didn't appear to be a problem for anyone, young or old). There's a couple of Mini Markets just a few minutes walk away and also a very nice bakery at the end of the road........perfect for that breakfast croissant.
The beautiful but small beaches can get crowded, but if you walk along the coast there are plenty of hidden spots to make your own.
There are only a handful of restaurants in Mlini itself. The best of which is the Konoba Marinero. Really friendly waiters, great seafood, and set in a garden with a (if you're lucky) moonlit sea view. Look out for the cute dog and the 10% discount voucher for boat trips to Dubrovnik and the islands. Besides a trip to Dubrovnik, we recommend the fish picnic to the Elaphite Islands which are all very picturesque.
Andrijana and her family made us very welcome for our stay in the apartment. I must mention Andrijana's mother, who spoke no english but treated us like family. Giving us a huge slab of cream cake one afternoon, fresh figs, homemade Walnut liquor and a gift when we left! Please adopt us!!!!!!!
Our only regret is we didn't t have a meal prepared for us at the apartment (an option if you require it) as I'm certain it would have been fantastic. If we return to Croatia, we'll definitely be staying with this lovely family in their lovely apartment.
