“Delightful small hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

We would love to return to this beautiful spot. The location overlooking stunning beaches is amazing; the infinity pool a perfect spot. Suite 6 has the use of a large, well equipped kitchen which is great for a family with children. Walking distance, 10 minutes, to village of Mazunte with good choice of casual restaurants and small local food stores. A quiet area, far removed from the all-inclusive scene! Our hosts, Anne and Regina, were very helpful.

Dear Jackie,

We loved having you as our guests with all your lightheartedness and charm.

Although Casa Pan the Miel is an adult’s only hotel, groups of friends and families with grown up children have found the rooms with the fully equipped kitchen very useful and comfortable.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and your whole trip to Mazunte. We’ll be pleased to host you again anytime!

Mazunte is a beautiful place that is still very undeveloped if you want a Club Med experience this is not the place for you. Bring lots of cash because the closest ATM is 20 mins away. We stayed at Casa pan de Miel as a little honey moon after getting married in Oaxaca the week before. Very beautiful location, friendly and helpful hotel staff and reasonably priced would recommend to anybody and would go back again? If your looking for raw beauty, relaxing scenery and a place you can get good food at I recommend Pan de Miel.

We appreciate your comment and also find it useful for other travelers coming to the area. As you say, this part of the oaxacan coast is extremely beautiful but it is important for visitors to know what to expect.

We love watching our guests get the most out of their experiences here and enjoy their visits to Mazunte even when they are used to more touristy beaches. It is a real pleasure for us to see them relish in Casa Pan de Miel’s homey atmosphere and forget about the “all inclusive” type of resorts.

We hope you’ll be visiting us again sometime soon and relieve the hole Mazunte/Casa Pan de Miel experience again!

Situated in Mazunte and overlooking the cove below, Pan de Miel is a charming and delightfully intimate hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay. Regina was very accommodating and extremely helpful. We particularly enjoyed the view from the infinity pool and the stone stairway down to the beach. We would return to Pan de Miel without hesitation.

Pan de Miel perches high above some of the most spectacular coastline in Mexico, and the rooms and public spaces take full advantage of these glorious views. Entering the gate and contemplating the driveway's steep drop down to reception required a deep breath before guiding our car gingerly down the slope, but soon we were pros ( though we chose to walk to the beaches and villages most of the time. ) We were greeted by the lovely and gracious Regina, who could not be more helpful and was simply a delight to converse with throughout our stay. Unfortunately, I was sick for 48 hours, but Regina arranged for rice soup and bananas to be delivered to our room, and I must say I've never had a better view which surely sped up my recovery. The infinity pool was heavenly, and the breakfasts and lunches served under the huge palapa were delicious. Our room was spotless and comfortable , though the beds I encountered throughout Mexico tended to be much firmer then those at home. The villages of Mazunte and San Augustinillo have a simpler esthetic - we preferred San Augustanillo, and had some wonderful meals featuring the freshest shrimp and red snapper. We got up early one morning and hiked down the 167 steps that provide direct beach access to watch the fisherman unload the night's catch. Excellent snorkeling and body surfing too. This was a magical spot - you are up in the stars at night, and close to the huge birds that swooe and soar overhead by day. Gracias Regina et al!

The view is amazing, you can sit for hours enjoying the ocean. The rooms are comfortable, nice, with air conditioning. But the best thing is the wonderful service, you feel immediately at home, with delicious food, home made bread, smiles and recommendations. Loved every minute of my stay!

Room Tip: Try to get the rooms that have a view of the ocean.

In January 2014, I had looked at several lodgings in Zipolite and Mazunte before discovering Pan de Miel. What the better hotels had in common were charming and rustic rooms with thatched roofs. As beautiful as the facilities were, the thatched roofs made me uncomfortable. I am too old to be worried about mosquito and spider bites. That brings me back to Pan de Miel. Set high on a cliff overlooking the beaches of San Agustinillo and Mazunte, the views were spectacular. The grounds are meticulously maintained. The rooms are clean and comfortable with color TV and wiFi internet. The staff is friendly and attentive as is the owner Anne Gillet. I expect to return to Pan de Miel in the future.

I stayed at Casa Pan De Miel for three days in early February 2014. The first night I spent 5 hours on the balcony of my room mesmerized by the glow of the moonlight shimmering off the waters of Bahia Mazunte and the rhythmic sounds of the surf crashing on the rocks below. It was just amazing and spiritually reviving! Anne has a fine little gem of a hotel here in Mazunte/San Agustinillo. The staff are helpful, attentive, and welcoming in every regard. Regina thank you for your patience and warmth when answering the myriad of questions and inquiries I had for you. I also enjoyed the breakfasts on the patio with the incredible views of the pool and Pacific Ocean as a backdrop for good food. The huevos, fresh fruits, breads, and homemade jams were incredible. I especially liked the mango and tomatillo jams. For my tastes they were just delicious with a very different spin on tomatillos! I have been involved in the restaurant/hotel business as a cook/chef for more decades than I care to admit to, and I rarely come across a hotel or restaurant that I feel compelled to review. Graciously I am happy to do one for this very special place. I highly recommend the hotel and would return again right now if work allowed me to slip away. I look forward to returning soon and telling a couple of my "special" friends about Casa Pan De Miel. Gracias por todo!
