“Nice site, Great atmosphere.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

We have just enjoyed a nice family holiday here. We were not expecting much as it is a small holiday camp, but we really enjoyed our stay here. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, the vans were all new and clean and the playground was ideal for the kids to have a play. The clubhouse was small but it was such a good atmosphere inside. I would recommend Castaways to friends and family. Thank you for a great time.

I have now stayed a good few times at Castaways and have not yet had a bad time, the vans are all either new or nearly new, all very clean and just a stones throw from the beach.
A medium sized secure playground is great for the kids to run off steam if the long walks and sandcastle building hasn't done this already. The club house is large and open every night, with something always going on inside. And the site has all the things you would expect, laundry, little shop (mini market also only few mins walk).
Now Bacton is not a Blackpool or Scarborough and has no massive slot amusement arcades and doesn't have hundreds of cafés and junk shops, and Castaways is not a Butlins it's quite, calming and a great place to come and relax WITH your pets.... Yes Bacton/Walcott is the pet friendly capital of Norfolk.
All in all if you and your family inc. pets are looking for a value for money, quite holiday with plenty of fresh air, no noise and uber relaxing, no large noisy music venues and no constant requests to buy more and more junk then you can't go wrong.

Ps. Watching the sun rise from your front room every morning is something even the most expensive 5* resorts can't always offer..

Room Tip: Ask for a beach/cliff front...

This was a late idea for an Easter break with the family (all adults).
Did not expect a lot so went with reservations after reading reviews but was okay with first impressions off the site. The area around Bacton suffered during the winter storms and damage is still to be seen, this park looks to have survived but surrounding cliff damage is very evident and areas look quite dangerous, the locals deserve praise for the work going on to restore the area for the summer months.
Back to the park, our caravan was pretty basic but having a small dog this is what you get, it was getting a bit dated but I suppose people with dogs get the older units.
All in all it was okay but could have done with a good clean.
Tried the on site club one night, was not impressed but this is probably a typical British caravan park.
The grounds are good and there is access to the beach which is dog friendly, you can walk for miles on low tide either way, yes there is the gas depot which is visible but to be honest is no bother, it is a couple of fields away.
If you are looking for a cheap break with a dog this is fine providing you can accept an average sort of place.
North Norfolk is a lovely are worth exploring but personally I would prefer to be around the Blakeney area.

Arrived in August and have just got round to writing this review. On arrival at the park the member of staff (or so I thought was a member of staff cause she was sat behind the desk) checked me in, when I asked her which caravan it was her reply was I don't know I don't work here! After that when I entered the caravan myself and my wife were disgusted it was filthy. Dirty bed sheets, hairs in the bathroom, cobwebs from the lamp shades, also on closer inspection the boiler was a death trap!!!! To cut a very long storey short we
tried contacting the staff on the emergency numbers as it was a Sunday and no one was about and got no answer. So decided the safest thing to do was to go 190miles back home. When we contacted Hoseason's the response from the management of castaways was laughable basically calling us liars. Upon providing photographic evidence to Hoseason's we received a refunded for the whole holiday. That pretty much sums up Hoseason's confidence in this holiday park.

After booking at Castaways I looked on googlemaps for the location of the park and was disappointed to see the gas plant next door however we were absolutely blown away by the parks presentation, staffs friendliness and fantastic dog friendly walks and beach. The gas plant was far enough away to not spoil our stay. The club house is nice and you can take your dog in with you. We stayed in a basic caravan which we found to be clean, comfortable and well equiped. We will definitely be staying again, it was our dogs first holiday and they abolutely loved it.
