“Good value, homely hotel in ideal location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012 via mobile

We stayed for one night as we were attending a charity event in Hitchin town centre. The hotel was ideally located. The owners were friendly and welcoming and did a great breakfast.
The room was cosy and had everything that we required.
Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for one night in August 2012. The book-in was reltively quick and was completed politely. Our twin room was adequate in size, clean and relatively quiet (the main road was outside.)
The breakfast was excellent and the staff we dealt with polite. Good value for money.

We stayed one night for a family wedding in Hitchin and we felt right at home. The location was great, the rooms were very clean and spacious. The family who runs the hotel are very friendly and helpful.
The layout of the hotel is very interesting and cozy. The full English breakfast amazing and the little snacks in the room were a big hit. The only thing I feel was missing was a kleenex box in the room and one thing needed to be removed was the BIG grandfather chair that was blocking the closet.

Charming friendly family run hotel near centre of Hitchin. We stayed in a delightful recently refurbished room with excellent decor and facilities. Would always stay here when visiting Hitchin and recommend to others.

This was not the hotel I booked. I was going to the Priory but they had over booked! We were placed here close to where we wanted to be so that was not too bad. The hotel is close to the centre of Hitchin but is a little dated in decor. The receiptionist was welcoming and helpful. Being an old building the room was adequate with on suite although getting there required navagating. The room was quiet even though it overlooked the road. The bed was comfortable and there was a TV and fan included if required.

They have a discount arrangement with local restraunts should you need an evening meal.

Breakfast was good and the service friendly. If I need to go back to Hitchin I wouldn't worry if I had to stay there again.

We stayed two nights for a wedding in a nearby village and had a wonderful time. For the owner's reference, we were in room 24. The room was clean, relatively spacious, and quiet.

The family running it was very friendly and helpful.

The included breakfast was delicious and English.

Constructive criticism:
We would have liked to see a stand-up shower in a renovated bathroom like the one we had.

The lock to get into the Annex was tricky and had us worried we would get suck in the building.

Our cost door was blocked by a big, comfortable chair. While we appreciated the inclusion of the chair, we would have foregone it for freer access to the closet to hang our clothes. Maybe move it to another room?

I stayed for a couple of nights this June. I arrived late and was greeted by the owner. I was given a nice room with a sofa. English breakfast was served the next morning. There is plenty of parking; it is easy to miss the entrance which is right bang in the middle of the building. The room and amenities were nice and clean and there is a spare duvet in the cupboard if it gets too cold. It is difficult to imagine what it must have lloked like during Lister's school time as it has changed quite a bit, but it has been nicely done up. There is a common with a wide screen TV.
The hotel is very close to the town centre and within 6 miles of Putteridge conference centre.
