“Excellent, friendly and great value for money!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013 via mobile

Just returned from a one night stay at Brynteg. We were in the area for a friend's wedding. We had excellent service from start to finish from the two owners. They were friendly and interested about our stay. They gave us help with directions and taxis and generally were fabulous!
The rooms were lovely and extremely clean. They contained everything we needed. Some old fashioned wallpaper, curtains etc but they added character! Lovely compact en suite. Our room was at the back so it was very quiet. I think rooms at the front may have been a bit noisier as it is on a main road.
The breakfast was amazing. Lovely little selection, full Welsh was lovely and cooked on request. Also lovely home made jams- well worth a try!
The cost was £56 for a double room. If I was in the area again I would stay there without doubt.

Centrally located terraced house offering comparatively small but extremely clean accommodation...if you want a bath it will be private but not en suite. TV is in the lounge, hospitality trays in room and lounge, good mattress and fine linen, plus lots of thick towels. B/fast was excellent, and some of the best decaff coffee around. For the rest the reviews below underline the good point of the B and B.The owners have indeed left the rat race for a less stressful life, but they put everything into the B and B venture, and it shows, so what's not to like about that.

Unpretentious B&B with everything covered, good beds with cotton bedding and very bearable breakfast, pleasant knowledgeable owners who are living the good life. If I was being picky I would prefer mugs to cups and saucers in the room, and some decaf coffee in the room instead of just regular would have been helpful. Good job I took my own. Free onstreet parking was never a problem.

Room Tip: Twin room has a private bathroom but is still charged at ensuite price so pick a double if you can b...

I recently stayed at the Brynteg with my husband, mum, mother in law and father in law. When we arrived after a very long and tiring journey we were greeted with a cheery welcome by Adrian & Mandy the owners of Brynteg. We were asked if we needed any help bringing in our luggage and taking the cases up to our rooms.
We were also offered a very welcome cup of tea or coffee which was very very welcome after such a long trip from Kent & London.
The rooms were spotlessly clean and we were shown how to use the shower in our room should we want to freshen up later. There were tea & coffee making facilities in the room and a double divan bed with a very comfy mattress and lovely comfy pillows. There were no televisions in the room, but this was not of any great concern after a very long and tiring day. There was a TV in the downstairs lounge and there was also free Wi-Fi. The views from the back rooms were stunning and I was even up at 6am some mornings taking photographs out of the window as the sun and mist came up over the valley. The B&B was very quiet and our privacy was respected at all times. We were given our own front door key so we could let ourselves in and out.
The breakfast was of very high quality with cereal, fruit or yoghurt to start. We were then offered a full English breakfast, scrambled eggs on toast and also as much toast as you could eat with lovely homemade jam and marmalade. Tea and coffee was also plentiful and when breakfast was over you were set up for most of the day and only needed a light snack out if anything. The only thing I would like to comment on is that this B&B is NOT disabled or elderly friendly as all of the rooms are up one flight of steep stairs, there were no downstairs rooms which could have been a problem. Please don't let this put you off. Adrian & Mandy were wonderful hosts and should we go back to Rhayader which I am sure we will we would have no hesitation in returning to Brynteg. Thank You Both for all your help and kindness.

Brynteg is very close to the centre of Rhayader which has all amenities required and countless pubs. A perfect base for walkers, cyclists, motorcyclists and car drivers. There were five of us staying for five nights at very reasonable prices.

On arrival, parking was easy, right outside the property and this was the case all week. We received a very warm welcome from both Adrian and Mandy, our hosts. We were offered a hot drink straight away, which was very welcome. Adrian offered to help with the luggage. We were shown to our rooms and the workings of the shower etc. were explained.

The whole place is spotless and the views from the rooms are lovely. The beds are comfy and the pillows are great. The showers are very powerful and leave you refreshed. There are no televisions in the rooms, but that was no problem as there is one in the guest lounge. Breakfast is varied and nothing is too much trouble. The cooked breakfast was plentiful and most of the menu was local if not homemade. We had our own key to the front door, so coming and going was easy.

When it was time to leave, Adrian again offered to help pack the car. Both of our hosts came to see us off which was a nice touch. We look forward very much to our return.

Room Tip: Rooms one and two face the hills of Rhayader, stunning with the early morning mist. Three and four f...

I wanted somewhere clean, comfortable and welcoming, that wasn't going to break the bank for a weekend. I received a warm welcome from Adrian on my arrival. The single room I had booked was spotlessly clean and everything looked like new. The bed was super comfortable. The generous breakfast set me up for the day's activities, with stunning views from their dining room window. A great little place to explore the beautiful countryside around.

A comfortable room with a great view of the hill backing on to Rhayader, and at red kite feeding time the sky was filled with these wonderful birds. A lovely garden to admire, and nothing was too much trouble for Mr& Mrs Pearce. And an excellent breakfast. Fully recommended.
