“Great venue for Wedding Reception”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

The Greyhound is a lovely venue for a Wedding Reception. We hired the whole place from mid afternoon. Those staying the night found, as mentioned by others, a mix of rooms. Some of them were very "oldey worldey" with slanting floors and beams, others not so interesting.
We had decided on a finger buffet and the food was amazing and plentiful, catering for all tastes. The disco in the evening went well and it was nice to have the whole venue to ourselves so that those who did not wish to dance or listen to the music could sit further away and chat.
What let it down for me was the breakfast. Whilst the "full english" was excellent, the coffee was cold and there was no fruit, yogurt or anything in the pastries line except croissants. Service was pleasant but slow and tables took ages to be cleared. I felt that this needed to be addressed and improved upon. I did mention it to staff who were apologetic. Maybe a bad day and just a one off?

The hotel food was excellent, rooms need a bit of an update, I was in room 12 and the carpet was threadbare and dirty, the showroom smells damp, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was basic but good. Overall it was a nice hotel and friendly.

Room Tip: Any room from 8 to 12 will mean the bar noise is not to bad.

I have just had my wedding reception at this venue, we booked the whole venue (restaurant, bar and rooms) the whole day and evening went so smoothly that we could just relax. the bar staff worked hard to keep the drinks flowing. The food was as high a class as you could get everybody enjoyed it and we have had such good feedback from our guests, Nana the head chef goes that little bit further to make sure your dining experience is second to none. the rooms are all great well equipped, clean and well decorated. we have decided that we will come back as often as possible as we rate it that highly. we would like to pick out Nana,Ben and Liz for helping our day perfect. THANK YOU.

Room Tip: just enjoy.

Stayed here rather than central London for a boat trip on the Thames. Easy parking and travel into London via tube from Rickmansworth.
I am in agreement with many previous reviewers that this Inn is superb for the food, staff and location, but the accommodation is a bit worn and tired looking. The worst for us was that the toilet had no washbasin and was separate from the bathroom! I accept that plumbing an old building must be difficult but surely these days there must be a small handbasin designed for this purpose?
I would still recommend it though, for the food was lovely (even for vegetarian) and very reasonably priced for such high quality

We held the wake at The Greyhound Inn at the recommendation of a close friend who had been to 2 previous wakes there and have to say that the management and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Understandably we were not at our best following the passing of my Dad, but despite a quite dramatic change in numbers (from 80 up to 120!) we were never made to feel anything other than completely at ease with the arrangements. The whole event passed off incredibly well and we were congratulated by various friends on the organisation which truly we had very little to do with. All this, and good value too! Well done to all at TGI, and sorry for taking so long to post this review. Many thanks. Robert Walker & Family.

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly and cheerful staff and were checked into our rooms very promptly despite their being quite a que.
We had 2 rooms at the Greyhound - one on the first floor and one on the second. The room on the first floor was one of their deluxe suites and was really nice with some beautiful period features, and a very comfortable bed! The only problem with this room was that it was positioned directly above the bar area and was therefore very noisy until well into the early hours, and this noise got even worse as people made their way outside to await lifts home (it finally went quiet around 2.30am). The room on the 2nd floor was nice, but far more basic and in many areas you had to mind your head due to the sloping ceilings (this was worst in the bathroom), however in this room you were not able to hear any of the noise from downstairs.
For dinner we decided to make use of the restaurant and were very dissappointed by the limited menu choice, however the food that we did have was of a high quality.

The restaurant, food, service and staff very good. The menu was varied, well cooked and well presented, the staff very attentive and helpful. The accomodation was very poor, cracked window, stained curtains, carpet and divan, loose ceiling light fitting, electrical safety testing out of date, no heating in room for two of the three days of the stay, shower looked nice but not very powerful.
So for the restaurant, staff, service etc I would give 4 out of 5, for the accomodation barely a 2 out of 5. Also don't use recommended taxi service very unreliable. Would dine but not stay again.

Room Tip: Dine here but stay somewhere else!
