Shawlands Park Hotel, Lanark was just the place to visit for a few days break. Not to far away and easy to get too, but what a treat we had in store for us on our arrival, as sitting just off the M74 motorway was this beautifully designed hotel, with lovely landscaped flower beds and water garden.
The reception staff of Mhairi greeted us on our arrival and immediately made us feel extremely welcome. Within minutes, our check in was complete and we were shown to our room on the ground floor. I must say how wonderful the décor and design of the room furniture, with a hint of tartan to remind you that you were in Scotland. The designer had certainly excelled in their layout with comfort being the priority for the guests.
The views from most of the windows in the hotel were quite stunning with the variety of green fields and trees. As our dinner reservation time approached, there was just enough time for us to enjoy a relaxing drink from Stuart at the lounge bar, before heading to the Ash Grill restaurant and being shown to our ‘booth’ table by the Maitre D, Carol, who was an absolute gem of a girl, along with her very competent and polite dining staff off Rebecca & Kirstin. As it was, Rebecca served our meal which was freshly cooked and well presented. Coupled with the attentive staff, a very pleasant time was spent in the restaurant enjoying the food and the ambience of the place.
The following day, due to a slight unforeseen hiccup, we required to move rooms and were immediately upgraded to the Islay Suite, which was up there with any of the many hotels I have had the privilege to stay at. Once again, the layout / design and furnishings were well matched and like our previous room, the bed was just incredibly comfortable, so much so, it was a serious effort to get up and out of it in the morning in order to go for breakfast, which again, like the other food we had sampled, was first class, with not a hint of grease anywhere….’’how did they do it!’
If I have any complaint and I’ve tried hard to find one….It’s the probably the music played in the restaurant, which could be more relaxed style for dining!
That said, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a few chilled out days away, with comfortable, extremely clean rooms, wonderful food cooked to perfection by the great chefs and the choice on the menu, was superb and at very competitive prices and most of all, a wonderful, polite attentive staff, who were so helpful and eager to please.
Without doubt, Mhari, Carol, Rebecca, Stuart Kirstin and Irene were just fantastic and a credit to the hotel . The asst Manager was a great he was very efficient and professional nothing was a problem Mhari was also the ultimate professional and a joy to deal with.
The Shawlands Park hotel for us was just great and I for one will not hesitate to book in again….Sooner rather than later………Thank You SPH for making my stay a thoroughly enjoyable one!.
