“Cafe at the side of the chip shop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

The restaurant is small and car parking is limited it being located in a small and busy shopping centre on the outer part of Long Eaton. Service is prompt the staff are friendly. The fish and the batter is well worth a wait! Lovely fresh piping hot food, served traditionally with bread and butter and a pot of tea

“Slow but friendly service. Shame about the MSG”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

We've had take away from here quite a few times but today we chose to eat in at lunchtime.
We hadn't eaten anything from here for a few months.
We were seated quickly and orders were promptly taken. It took about 20mins for our meals to arrive which seemed a long time given that there is a takeaway next door.
Upon leaving my husband started to complain of a headache which got worse and then as other symptoms started to show we realised that there had been MSG in the meal. He had eaten cod, chips and mushy peas with white bread and butter. We can only guess that the MSG was in the batter.
Sooo disappointing. Why does George's feel the need to use a flavour enhancer?

“The best in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We have previously had take away's from this chip shop, but today we decided to eat in the restaurant. It was an absolute pleasure, the meals always been top notch and eating in a clean and comfortable environment was brilliant. The staff are attentive but not over the top. The batter on the fish is so light and tasty no greasy residue. The small portion is just the right size. Will deffinately eat there again

“Excellent Tradition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile

Second to none, can't find a better chippy and very up market, my second visit after lots of recommendations from the locals and was not disappointed, staff very attentive and friendly and although very busy didn't slow service down. Fully recommend this restaurant, fish crispy and superb, chips freshly cooked, and mushy peas to die for.
