“Great place, service is fantastic! Very friendly, worth a visit!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Visited for the first time with my mother and father (they have been a few times) and it was marvelous!! Really enjoyed the food, ordered a BLT which came out looking like a 5* restaraunt meal. The presentation was very impressive and the service, very friendly and attentive to your needs.

If visiting the Isle of Man take time too visit this restaurant. Set in a lovely setting with a stream running near, great for a strole and bite to eat.

Only note to make about the price, it is not your average cafe prices, however with the service and food you are more than happy to pay the price! FANTASTIC!

“Up there with the best on the Isle of Man”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

We use this restaurant regularly for lunch and also their private dining room for board meetings. The food is just great. The Sunday lunch in particular is superb. Unlike many restaurants that overcook a joint of beef making it tough as old boots, The Abbeys is served pink in the centre just the way it should be to keep it tender. They are happy to see children with an area for them to play outside. As for the staff, the critical reviews regarding service must have caught them on an off day because they are always extremely friendly and helpful in my own experience. Lovely setting by the river, easy parking, warm atmosphere, spotlessly clean, great food and good service. Got to be worth a visit.

“As good as food gets on the Isle of Man”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

As the title says this is as good as food gets on the Isle of Man - such a shame considering the quality ingredients they have at their disposal. It is a tad on the expensive side but then the decor etc doesn't come free and needs to be paid back somehow. I've also always found the staff excellent - my father isn't in the first flush of youth and requires a bit of assistance and patience (he's also a tad cantankerous) however the staff have never been anything but delightful. A wonderful Manx haven.

“Dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

We decided to have Sunday lunch here 6/1/13. The location, building, decor, ease of parking are very good. The staff were a little "aloof" and the welcome from the gentleman behind the bar was cold, maybe to be fair it was because they were busy, however this should not make a difference. Our starters were nice nothing special and the mains, well the lamb was tough, my partner needed a steak knife! The pork was lovely I have to admit, however the yorkshires were impossible to cut and unless you like cubed soggy carrots, (they were not roasted veggies not sure how they were cooked) the vegetables will not be to your liking.
