“The best day of our lives.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

We can't begin to explain the experience we had at VSC and with Marco & Monica. It was so personal and amazing. Not only was it the best day (well, week really) of our lives, but so many of our guests said it was like no other wedding they had been to and enjoyed every second.

We viewed the villa back in February 2011, so returning on the 9th June 2012 was so emotional. The flowers and the sunshine made the views and villa even more beautiful. We checked in about half an hour before most of our guests arrived, they were speechless!! We had such a fun first evening to kick off the holiday & ordered pizza from Ciao Ciao. The next day, more and more guests arrived! We had 40 people in total, the overspill from VSC opted for hotels in the town and two villas further up the hill from VSC.

The week was a whirlwind but so exciting. We met Mark (our photographer) prior to the wedding day, as well as Kamil (the videographer) and Alex (the DJ). I also had a hair trial with Monia at her shop, which was fun!
The day before the wedding we had the rehearsal at Cortona town hall. Marco made us all feel very calm and organised!

Our wedding day arrived (so quickly) on Wednesday the 13th of June. Monia arrived at the villa at 7am to get started on the hair. There were 3 blow-dries and 2 hair-ups to perform. All of them looked beautiful. I was so pleased with my hair, Monia did it so well that it stayed in all day & night! (I'm having it done again this Saturday for our English reception, my hair dresser has a lot to live up to!!!!)
The getting ready process was so calm, me, the bridesmaid and the mother of the bride were ready in good time and enjoyed watching the other guests milling around from the wedding suite windows.

The groom was getting ready with the boys further up the hill in Villa dei Cappuccini. Poor Mark & Kamil rushed between the two capturing both our mornings. They were excellent. Mark was so friendly and talked through exactly what he needed from us. Kamil just got on with capturing natural moments, it was like having two friends with us rather then 2 strangers!

The town hall ceremony was so special and intimate, we chose the string trio, the music was beautiful and set the mood for the whole day. We loved coming out on the balcony and walking down the steps with crowds of on-lookers!

When we arrived back at the villa, everything looked amazing, Monica had been working her socks off!! Mario did our flowers, and wow - they looked better then I had imagined. The marquee really comes to life on the wedding day.

Renata was our caterer and the food was out-of-this-world. Our guests couldn't believe how many courses there were, everyone said it was one of the best meals EVER. We want the Italian wedding cake to catch on over here in the UK, it was 1000 x nicer then normal fruit cake. I've been craving it ever since!

I don't know where the time went, but before we knew it Alex had started up the music. All of our guests took to the dance floor until the early hours. He played such a good mix of music and read the room to make sure there were no dance-floor lulls!
We opted for the free bar which our guests loved. I wondered if it would be worth doing, but it definitely was, everyone made the most of it!!

The whole day & evening was perfect, Kamil and Mark managed to capture our memories so well. Many people back in the UK watched Kamil's video and commented how it brought a tear to their eye. We cant recommend him enough. We booked him last minute after our meeting with Marco, and thank god we did - we've watched the video soooo many times.

We have only seen a snapshot of photos from Mark as he is working on the others, but again, we loved his style and the photos he sent over were gorgeous. We would also recommend him to everyone. He made us laugh the whole day! We cant wait to see the rest of the pictures and share them with friends and family.

And finally... Marco & Monica! Wow!
Marco is a genuinely lovely guy, who makes dreams come true. We hadn't met him before we flew out for the wedding, but as soon as we did, we felt we had known him for years. He was friendly, organised, reassuring & excellent at what he does.

Monica was one of the reasons we booked VSC, she showed us round back in February and was so lovely. During the week, she helped us with anything we needed and on the day made sure everything was perfect for when we arrived back from Cortona.

Russ and I felt quite emotional saying goodbye to both Marco & Monica. Passignano will always be such a special place. We hope to return very soon!!

I think I've run out of adjectives to describe the week. But if your reading this, wondering whether to book VSC, or with Romantic Italian Weddings, it will be the best week of your lives.

As you can see from the photos the villa is just stunning, restored beautifully by Marco. Split into mini apartments it also offers the perfect amount of privacy. The pool and BBQ area make the villa a fantastic place to relax and enjoy your stay with all your family and friends.

Along with all of the other couples who have exchanged vows in the stunning Cortona town hall followed by reception at Villa San Crispolto, we can only share with you our fantastic memories.

Marco’s RIW is certainly a well oiled machine! From start to finish we had no problems at all and have only happy memories. The 8 step tool ensures the whole process of planning a wedding in a different country is as easy as it can be, with Marco and his team on hand to answer any questions and help with special requests.

Giuliano was our caterer and we cannot recommend his food highly enough. The entire 8 course menu, including the cake was exquisite. We had a couple of special requests and dietary requirements, all sorted no problem.

Mario (La fioreria di Berti Mario, Cortona) was our florist. Whilst his English is limited, he is assisted by his very helpful son Federico who is a translator, so the whole process was easy and we had the most beautiful flowers. We went out to Tuscany the year before we were married and Mario very kindly managed to get us access to the town hall so we could see the venue. From the moment that you first walk through the piazza in Cortona, we knew the venue was perfect, not to mention unique. Having been to many weddings in the UK, we knew that this was something very special.

The town hall itself is breathtaking and with Marco acting as translator for the official conducting the ceremony, everything ran smoothly. After the vows we walked out down the main steps and through the town for photos. It felt like the whole of the town was joining in with us as we came out into the main square.

We chose the string trio to play at the ceremony and aperitifs by the pool. They were fantastic! The music we wanted was not on their list but this was not a problem, I sent Marco the sheet music who passed it on to the musicians and they played perfectly.

Following the wedding we had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful Villa San Crispolto and Tuscany.

The day after the wedding was perfect, relaxing at the villa by the pool in the glorious sunshine with everyone after the busy day before.

Following Marco’s recommendation we found a fabulous vineyard. Many boxes of wine were purchased, most of which were intended as presents, however all bottles were consumed before going home!

All aspects of our wedding were simply fantastic. From the baker who visits the villa in the morning, to the sprinklers that came on early one evening soaking us all... Hilarious!!

We didn’t have to worry about a thing; all we had to do was enjoy our wedding day and week with our family and friends. We cannot thank the entire team enough.

Although it was almost 6 months ago the memories are still fresh in our minds.

You might think that planning an overseas wedding would be an extremely tricky task. We can assure you that if you choose Romantic Italian Weddings that is not the case.

The Romantic Italian Weddings websites ‘8 step tool’ works exceptionally well, it is straightforward and methodical. It really does help to take the stress out of planning practically everything. All of the questions that you can think of will be answered as you progress through the 8 steps.

Marco, Monica and the rest of the team were fantastic throughout. Right from the very early stages of planning to our final day at the Villa.

Every detail was thought of. No question was too much trouble.

VSC was absolutely beautiful. We were completely blown away with it, as were our guests. We opted to have the wedding suite for the week, and were so glad that we did. The suite was out of this world and after showing a few of our guests around, some were even moved to tears by just how lovely it was.

The rest of the villa was also amazing. Every room had been restored beautifully, with enough space to comfortably accommodate all of our guests. Whilst the fixtures and fittings of the villa were in keeping with its age (13th century) all of the facilities were very much of the 21st century. The kitchen especially was fabulous, the recent refurb was to a top specification.

The grounds around the villa were stunning. The grass and flowers were in lovely condition and the views were out of this world. The gardener (Marco’s uncle) took care of the grounds everyday and you could see that he did a great job.

Our wedding day itself was perfect. From beginning to end our day went without a hitch, all thanks to Marco and his team. Marco makes wedding planning look easy, he is professional, organised and consciences. Marcos assistant Monica was equally as important in making our stay and wedding day memorable and stress free. Always on hand if we had any questions.

We would like to mention all of the other people who contributed to making our day unforgettable.

Thank you to Trasimeno Turismo for providing our wedding car and coach to and from the villa. Whilst the Fiat 500 seems to be a very popular choice, we opted for the Fiat 1100 as it was slightly bigger (suiting our 6ft 2” father! ) We are glad that we did, the car was fantastic.

Thank you to Cristina for our beautiful flowers, they were great. After we emailed her with a few pictures that we had found online she created some lovely bouquets and table arrangements just the way we wanted. All of the flowers were perfect.

Our catering was supplied by Giuliano, and WHAT an amazing meal it was. Every course was absolutely delicious. The presentation of the food and attention to detail was fantastic. Our friends and family still talk about it to this day. We would highly recommend you to have Giuliano as your caterer.

Our photographer was Domenico. He was a very nice man, who made you feel at ease whilst he was taking photos. We were extremely happy with the results and the beautiful album which he complied for us. In addition to Domenico, we chose to have the videographer Simone. He was excellent, he captured the whole day brilliantly without us hardly noticing he was there.

Kamil our bar man was excellent. Having a free bar was definitely a good idea and a nice surprise for our guests.

Music was supplied by DJ Alex, after a ten minute meeting and a flick through our ipod it was sorted. Alex quickly picked up on the vibe that we were looking for, and on the night nailed it. He played a great set and was happy to take some requests. The dance floor was jumping all night. Thanks Alex.

We cannot recommend Romantic Italian Weddings enough.
They made not only our wedding day special, but our entire week for both us and all of our friends and family. If you are thinking of getting married in Italy, then you need look no further than here.

THANK YOU

Kindest regards
Matthew & Julie

We wanted a relaxed, informal and fun wedding in the sun with our closest friends and family - a wedding and a holiday in one. We thought something like this villa was out of our reach, but we had a look at the budget calculator tool and were surprised with the detailed and clear costs, which allowed us to make up our mind easily, rather than wondering what hidden extras were waiting to be added with other venues we were considering. Our visit to re-assure ourselves we had booked the right place put our minds at ease, because even in winter, the villa is enchanting.

The villa looks great on the website, but pictures cannot convey the combination of it's panoramic location, spacious and pretty gardens, the fabulous pool area and the thoughtful little details everywhere that make it such a charming place to stay. The feedback from our guests was unanimous, the villa exceeded expectations in a big way. There are so many areas to relax, hang out with each other, or get away from it all with a book. Due to the great weather, we spent most days by the pool, but we socialised each evening in a different place: At the BBQ area, on the terrace for the wine tasting, in the alcove under the stairs, in the communal kitchen or in the large sitting room in the downstairs apartment. The bridal suite deserves special mention, it is the nicest room we will ever stay in! As a holiday destination, the villa is a five star experience, but that is only half the story - its also a unique and spectacular wedding venue.

The on-line 8 step planning tool used to organise the wedding is invaluable. Of course, behind the scenes, Marco has spent the time to choose the suppliers that he works with, and all of them were a pleasure to deal with, making the organisation from overseas an alarmingly easy process. Our wedding went so smoothly that our guests assumed we had worked night and day to ensure everything was perfect, but the truth is it was very structured and easy thanks to the planning tool and the local knowledge it draws on. The language barrier was not a problem as all the suppliers communicated through English for us.

When we arrived, the always smiling Monica and Marco were on hand to show us everything and settle us in. The next day, we met up with Marco, Monica and our caterer Giuliano to run through the final arrangements from top to bottom. Over the course of an hour or two Marco rang each supplier in turn and confirmed everything was as it should be, and resolved any last minute questions or requests there and then. After that meeting, all we had to do was relax and enjoy the holiday. The day before the wedding, we went into the pretty hilltop town of Cortona and had the rehearsal and filled out the paperwork, staying around for a while to explore. Marco has every detail covered, there are no surprises and it is very reassuring for a couple to know that.

We were blessed with great weather the whole week we were in Passignano, and the wedding day was no exception. Although Marco was on hand for the ceremony, there was no surprises and everything went like clockwork - even the entrance of the bride was on time, as the church bells rang out. We chose the Cathedral of Cortona to get married, and it would be hard to find a more beautiful church outside of the Vatican. The view from the square outside the church, down over the Tuscan countryside is stunning, and elevates an already fantastic location to something truly special.

The reception itself was perfect, with a little time to relax by the pool for the canapés and aperitifs, followed by entering into the reception venue, which had been transformed from a bare marquee into an elegant reception room. With the Tuscan sun setting over the lake and with wine and speeches flowing, it was everything we could have hoped for, and more. The evening just got better, with the cake cutting a real surprise and the music getting everyone up out of their seats after a huge meal. Marco, Monica & Giuliano were again on hand to make sure everything was going smoothly and to say hello. The party went on until the wee hours, ending in a sing-song in the alcove under the stairs.

From the outset, and especially In the run up to the wedding, Alexandra or Marco always got back to our mails, and let us know if there would be any upcoming delay answering them. With something as potentially stressful as organising a wedding, having someone to call or email with the latest panicky question is invaluable.

As is clear from the other reviews, Marco and his team have been doing this for quite some time, and to say they have it down to a fine art is an understatement. They are worth every penny of their wedding organisation fee, from sourcing suppliers, completing legalities and formalities, organising the church, the English-speaking priest, the venue, the accommodation, and special requests and queries, they took all that boring stuff out of our hands and left us to concentrate on the fun aspects.

All out guests were very glum to be leaving the villa and we are already wondering if there is anyone else we know that we can convince to get married here, so we can come back!

Unbelievable that it has already been 6 months since we spent a magnificent week at Villa San Crispolto.  Not a day goes by without Dale and I reminiscing about our perfect time in Italy.  We can't thank you enough for making our wedding a total dream come true.

Although we both have to be extremely organized at work, it definitely doesn't transition to our personal lives! Your "8 Steps" took all the stress out of planning our wedding. Anytime I had a question Alexandra, Monica, or you had an answer for me within minutes!   With your guidance everything went off without a hitch!  We arrived in Florence a few days early to meet with Elena from Atlantica Centro Servizi.  She is such a sweetheart. We would never have been able to get all the paperwork done without her, especially so quickly.  As an added bonus she gave us a few restaurant recommendations that were spot on!!
After three wonderful days in Florence it was time to go to Passignano sul Trasimeno. The only apprehension I had the entire week was on our drive to the villa.  Briefly I panicked and wondered if it could all be a scam.  Could anything be as wonderful as what people had described on your website?  That all melted away as soon as we pulled up to Villa San Crispolto.  Words cannot describe it's beauty.  The architecture is magnificent, the landscaping is impeccable, and the view from the terrace is something you can get lost in for hours.

We spent the first night there alone.  I highly recommend it.  It gave us a chance to acquaint ourselves with the surroundings and figure out the best rooms for our guest.  We also rented the honeymoon suite for the entire week.  Something else I recommend.  While it was wonderful having the week to share with our guests, the suite was absolutely beautiful and the privacy was very much appreciated..

On Sunday our guests started rolling in.  You could see their weariness fade as they explored the grounds.  What a wonderful afternoon and evening we had, first with wine and appetizers out on the terrace and then a wonderfully cooked meal by our good friends using the freshest produce and meat found just a stones throw away in the quaint little town of Passignano sul Trasimeno. The rest of the week was equally splendid. Andrea and the wine tour was definitely a highlight.  His passion about the wine and food traditional in Tuscany was palpable.  We wanted the day to never end. When we returned home we were greeted with a traditional Tuscan feast prepared by Renata. It was delicious! The night before the wedding we went out on Lake Trasimeno with Iuri and Roberto from Navilagando.  There we had appetizers as well as sweets and dancing galore.  Everyone had so much fun!

The day of the wedding could not have been more perfect. The sun was shining and the temperature was ideal in the mid 70s.  Nello and Sara came to the villa to do my hair and make-up with a bottle of champagne in hand... a nice touch to ease my nerves. My nails were also perfect thanks to Monica's ability to make last minute arrangements. The transportation you helped us set up was punctual and very pleasant.  Mario was able to create exactly what I wanted for my flowers and the colors could not have been more beautiful. The rose petals he provided for my guests to throw were also a very nice touch and looked great in the pictures.  The musicians for the ceremony and out at the pool set the mood, and the ceremony went 100% as planned thanks to you and Monica.  Like so many of your guests have commented before, after the ceremony we walked around the town of Cortona for pictures and we felt like royalty.  Everyone was so nice, smiling and congratulating us, it was very special. Our photographers Marc and Tony, www.marcanthonyphotography.com, (Cleveland, Ohio)  did such an amazing job capturing the beauty of the villa and especially Cortona.  We were fast friends with them by the end of the week.  I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to truly capture the essence of Italy and the romance of their wedding on film. Last but not least, our caterer Guiliano created the most amazing dinner and wedding cake, DJ Alex was loads of fun, and the open bar proved to be too much for me, but great for the guests!!

I could go on for days but I just want to thank you for making our wedding absolutely perfect!  Our guests continue to rave about the best wedding, best food, best cake, best EVERYTHING they've ever experienced at a wedding!  We can't wait to come back.  We've already bought our plane tickets for our first anniversary!  Maybe we'll see you at Caio Caio!

All the best,

Lisa and Dale

When Gerard and I spoke of getting married we always knew that we wanted to go to Italy, and when we came across Romantic Italian Weddings we knew that Villa San Crispolto had to be the one for us. From our initial phone call with Marco he had us! Our wedding week at the villa was more than anything we could have hoped for. The villa itself - you will never see anything as breathtaking and its surroundings are so well kept by Italo, a true gentleman. Our wedding day could not have been more perfect and it was all down to Marco and his team. We met with Marco and Monica the day after we arrived who went through the whole day ensuring we had everything we wanted, they left no stone unturned. Monica is such as asset to RIW and it was a pleasure to be able to meet her and work with her. The 8 steps tool made the whole planning process so straight forward and covered every aspect from the ceremony to the disco!

Nello, our hairdresser of choice, came to the villa on the morning exactly on time with a bottle of prosecco for me and my girls. Although he said he did not speak good English, he understood exactly the look we wanted. And the beautiful Sara, also part of his team, done our make up and we couldn’t have been happier with the way we all turned out.

We decided to have our ceremony on the Cathedral of Cortona, such an amazing place. The string trio from Musician’s Bay played beautifully throughout and also accompanied us back at the Villa during the aperitifs; they were a nice touch to our special day. DJ Alex met with us the day before the wedding to establish our taste in music for the reception. He had us dancing all night and was able to provide any special requests. I would definitely recommend Alex, no party would be the same without him.

Paolo and Francesca provided our flowers. They were so helpful and kind throughout our planning, I could not recommend them highly enough. On the morning of our wedding when the flowers arrived I was delighted to see the arrangements.

Our transport needs were met by Trasimeno Turismo. From airport transfers to the hire car to transport for our guests the day of the wedding. Sara corresponded with us throughout our planning and we were always guaranteed a speedy reply to any questions we had, she just made everything so easy for us.

After going through the menus of all the caterers recommended by Marco numerous times, we decided to go with Guiliano, and we were not disappointed - we have never had so much food at a wedding!! We had the chance to try some authentic Italian food where we never would have before. He is so professional and such a gentleman. If you are looking for someone to provide a feast fit for a king then he will not let you down. I can’t forget to mention the wedding cake – I have never tasted anything like it!

I could go on and on talking about the wonderful people we met that week who all had a part to play in our big day, but I have to talk about Marco. Its hard to put into words the type of man that can take a girls dream of her perfect wedding and make it a reality. So caring, always had a smile on his face, and nothing was too much trouble for him. Marco will always have a special place in our hearts, and both Gerard and I hope that some day we will have the pleasure of visiting Italy and seeing him again.

Thank you Marco and all the staff at RIW for an unforgettable week for which we will always be grateful.

Well, where do I start... We booked our wedding through Romantic Italian Weddings over 12 months ago after visiting Marco to see the villa and talk through the wedding organisation.
Marco installed great confidence in us both with his excellent web based wedding planning (this could not be said for the other Italian based wedding planners we visited) and the villa was beautiful with amazing views. I also found out that someone else at work was just about to get married at Villa Baronchino - Marco's other villa, so this also gave us confidence to go ahead and book.
Wedding planning through Marco and his team was very well organised, I was less stressed than I would have been if I would have tried to arrange my wedding in England.
When we arrived everything lived up to our expectations and more. Words can't express how happy we were with the stay in the villa and the organisation of the wedding. All the organisation was flawless, everything went to plan and the suppliers they recommended did not disappoint.
We also had a family emergency the day after the wedding when we had to visit A&E, however Marco and his team - big thanks to Kamil, supported us through the whole distressing experience and they went the extra mile in helping us in difficult times.
We had 19 people at our wedding and they all said that they had a wonderful experience - the villa was outstanding, the wedding went without a hitch and Tuscany was the perfect backdrop for an experience that will live with us forever.
