Good pub-type food at ok price. Open all winter. Comfortable informal small town eatery where you can get a beer.

“Try it, you'll like it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

The Bala Falls Pub and Pizza is the Pizza Nova franchisee in Bala. Their pizza is superb - the 'Mediterranean' is highly recommended. The salads are great too. This is a small town restaurant/pub with a casual and very pleasant atmosphere. Several beers on tap ensure that any taste preference can be satisfied.

“The food is surprisingly excellent. The wings are made fresh for each order, the pizza from scratch.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012 via mobile

It is not everyday you can throw out valuable compliments like "the best wings" in Canada. But here I will. Bala, a modest little town just north of Gravenhurst and shy of Port Carling might only have a couple of places to eat in the evening and certainly people might take the extra twenty minutes to go to Boston Pizza in Gravenhurst. But it would be a mistake.

This small little pub located beside The Kee in Bala knows how to take a pub menu and balance it with food goodness. That means the wings are made after each order so they are fresh. And cooked carefully. The wings are meaty and whether Cajun dryrub or hot - or whatever your choice the fact that they are prepared on the spot makes all the difference in the world.

The hardworking kitchen produces pizza from scratch and excellent other mains. You want the pizza but want chicken instead of sausage? No problem here because each one is made from scratch. Up north this is not usual - keeping all the ingredients, the challenge of lots of orders at the same time - there are lots of reasons many places would pre-prepare. But not here.

The service is friendly, pricing reasonable, the atmosphere quaint and there is parking for a boat if you have come by water. It is simply hard to beat.

But the real jewel here are the wings. Try them out. Dinner for two with a couple of beers and taxes is likely to run around $65 and you will be full!
