“Beware of theft at Decameron”

Warning:
Just beware of theft in the Royal Decameron. Do not leave digital cameras in your room! My daughter and her friend, in two separate rooms had their expensive cameras stolen from the rooms while we were there this month. The batteries were stolen during the first week and then the camera was taken the day before they booked out of the hotel.

My boyfriend and myself stayed at the Royal Decameron for two weeks in December, I am 18 and he is 20. We did not have our luggage for 6 whole days, due to ferry travelling. We eventually got it tho. The water isn't bright blue.. it's more of a murky green color. The waves can get "big" sometimes, I was knocked over by one haha. The food is alright, I liked the salades and the pizza the best. You can reserve for a restaurant there, or just go buffet style. Both were ok. There is a "steak house" restaurant there, and during the day, it becomes like a snack shack, hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza etc. The disco wasn't that good... it was very very loud, and not alot of people were ever there. There's a dance floor when you first walk in and a little stage, and up the stairs is the bathrooms and the bar. The pools are cold but its really refreshing after suntanning! They don't have rye there, or coolers. Our favourite vendor there was Mel, he sells jewlery. There are mostly canadians there, maybe 10 americans, and 3 other countries, ex. germany. There are more older people then young, but there are a fair amount of young people as well. We wanted one big bed, but ended up with 2 beds haha. There isn't a remote for the tv but who cares. Lots of great people there, fun bartenders, everyone is very helpful. Overall we had a good trip! Lots of people we talked to there have been there over 5 times! I would rather go else where next time, just to see more places and do something different. It is very nice there. Hope you have a good trip.

“Royal Decameron is Awesome!”

Royal Decameron Puerto Vallarta

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at the Royal Decameron from Feb. 26-Mar. 5. After reading some bad reviews before going, I must say we were nervous, but after arriving the first day, we settled in and enjoyed a perfect week. The days were nice, temp 78-82 degrees. Nights were chilly with temps in the low 60's, but with a light jacket, it was still very comfortable. The pools were kept clean. The rooms are not 5 star, but my husband and I are not used to 5 star. The maids do an awesome job. There is a blow dryer in the room. I like to use my own shampoo anyway. The food is good. Walk around to all of the buffets, especially in the evening, before sitting down at one. We ate at the Mexican specialty restaurant. Nothing special! The buffets are so good, it's not necessary to eat at the specialty restaurants. The bars are great and the bartenders are friendly! What else is there to say except my husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at an awesome, special place, called the Royal Decameron. (Make sure you walk to Bucerias, wear comfortable shoes!) Also we took a one day bus trip into Puerto Vallarta that was fun.

“Disappointing”

Royal Decameron Puerto Vallarta

Apr 4, 2005

Overall, an OK vacation experience, but the hotel was disappointing. The food was way below what we've had at similar resorts.

The first night they put us near the disco. We were exhausted from travelling all day, only to get woken at 10:00 to the most appalling racket. They did move us, but this was not a good start.

The other disappointing aspect was that there were very few activities for our 5-year old twins. While the hotel says they have a "kids club", its not really that at all. At most 1 hour of pretty much unsupervised activities. The hotel is better suited to teenage children.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, some of them real joksters, and this certainly lightened up the trip.

Would I go again? No. There's better value for money and better food at other all-inclusive resorts.

“Great time in Paradise”

Royal Decameron Puerto Vallarta

Mar 31, 2005

Just returned from a 5 day vacation in paradise, March 26 to 30. I was there with two children that enjoyed all that was offered and with three adults that loved the fact that there was a midnight snack bar. I enjoyed the free drinks (do get a large mug to get a larger drink). In my opinion Block 4 was the best. Our room was on the first floor facing the pool, so we could open the patio door and walk outside to the pool, Tropical Restaurant that has a fantastic buffet, beach, etc. All the people at the resort were very nice, polite, and helpful. Yes, there are hair dryers, and no they do not put shampoo or conditioner out, but can't you bring your own? These are insignificant things that should not keep anybody from experiencing this place. We plan on returning next year for a 1 week vacation.
