On the resort at approximately midnight a group of young locals groped a female in our party then tried to assault me before security intervened. The hotel did nothing for us just a verbal apology. I'll never go back.

I spent Christmas 2013 at the resort and had a spectacular time; the fresh salads and fruit were always plentiful, and the nightly entertainment was Las Vegas worthy. It's safe for single, ideal for couples and families as they have 6 pools, from quiet adult only to family or party pools. The staff are all very helpful and courteous and the rooms are immaculate and spacious. Just 30 minutes from PV and 5 minutes from the charming village of Bucerias with it's assortment of little shops, wonderful restaurants that range from literally tables in the sand on the beach to more up-scale dinning with a varied wine list. Highly recommend a day of sailing out of the Adventure Center in PV and a visit to La Bodeguita for live Cuban Music and Latin Dancing!
I will be going back for sure.

We returned two days ago from a week at the Royal Decameron.
For the price paid ~$830 Canadian including return flight from Vancouver, we were a little disappointed overall, but enjoyed the stay nonetheless.
My partner and I read lots of reviews before we decided on the resort, so we knew what we were getting into.
The resort is quite large. It has six massive blocks of rooms, several pools, three tennis courts, two large buffet restaurants, five specialty restaurants.

We stayed in block 5, which is 3-4 blocks walk from the beach. This block has its own adult pool area and snack/dinner restaurants and generally was quiet in the evening. Although we would have liked to be closer to the beach, we spoke with guests from other blocks who said their sleep had been interrupted overnight by being in a noisier part of the resort. Behind the japanese/thai restaurant, there's a tree that the iguanas climb up at night, and at noon every day they come down to feed. Watching them was one of the highlights of the trip - such amazing creatures.
The room itself could definitely have used some updating. The bed and pillows were very firm, which was difficult to adjust to. The tv in the room was small and old - not even a flat screen! I have stayed at a couple other resorts for the same price point that have all had flat screens. Channel selection was good, and surprisingly included CBC, Fox news & CNN along with a few other channels in English, 60 or so channels total. The air conditioning unit worked well, but was a bit noisy. That might have drowned out the sound of our neighbors coming back to their room late at night, so we didn't mind the noise. We paid an extra US$23 for our stay to have use of the safe, which I would highly recommend. We didn't use the balcony except to dry our wet clothing, but might have used it a bit more in the afternoon and evening if there were a mini fridge in the unit. Again, this is the first resort I've stayed at that has not had one.

We ate at the buffets for most of the meals, and found the food to be generally quite good. My girlfriend likes to wake up to a cup of coffee in the morning but she said the resort's offering was dreadful. They have a good selection of veggies, meat dishes, chips, salsa and guacamole for lunch/dinner. We did not like most of the chicken dishes that were offered, but your mileage may vary! Lots of fruit in the morning, though sometimes of questionable quality- not always the best cuts of watermelon or pineapple, and very rarely were there apples available. Must be the wrong time of year for mangoes as well - unfortunate that they didn't offer any. Other breakfast selections include pastries, toast, smoothies, omelets, etc.

There was always staff on hand to clear our plates and offer us drinks at the buffets. The cleaning staff did an excellent job with our room every morning. Bring plenty of US dollar bills to hand out. Besides the cleaners, the bar staff especially could use more tips for some of the rudeness they have to put up with. I witnessed a lot of people who neglected to even say please and thank you. There is no poolside service at the resort - so if it bothers you to have to walk up to any one of the five or so bars nearby each of the pools, this is not the place for you. We noticed people tend to bring their own thermos or other drink holders for the alcohol, but we didn't really find this necessary. The drinks might not have the best quality liquor but they do tend to be quite strong, even in the small plastic cups provided.

We found the grounds of the resort to be exceptionally clean and well maintained, with a number of staff constantly looking after the place. There were also lifeguards around the pools for extra piece of mind.

We ate at two of the specialty restaurants during our stay - Rodizio Grill(Steakhouse) and Piccolo(Italian). The service at both was quite good, and the food of a higher quality than what we had at the buffet.

As for the ocean, I went body-surfing a few times and really enjoyed it. The waves can be quite strong, so be careful. The beach is clean but filled with people selling shirts, bags, and any number of trinkets. The pools are only open until 6 each night, and the towel service closes at the same time.

The activity staff are very friendly, but most of the time their activities do not happen on time, if at all. Several times I was in the area for volleyball or tennis when scheduled and the games never happened. There are a lot of activities on offer which vary from day to day - everything from yoga on the beach to kayaking, blackjack, etc. We went to watch the shows most evenings and found the performers to be excellent. On the nights where they had audience participation shows, the audience that went up on the stage tended to be drunk and not the best performers. The activities desk also has a number of games that you can sign out - Scrabble, Battleship, Uno, etc. along with a couple books.

We had a really great time at this hotel.

The service was the best I have ever had at any resort I have ever stayed in,
We had not gotten any beach towels on our first day and had booked at trip to las caletas the next morning and ran into a manager near the pool who had asked how our trip was going. We asked him if there was a place we could get towels and since the towel shack place was closed he ran to laundry and grabbed 2 for us so we could have some for our excursion in the morning. It was very much appreciated and I am sorry I don't remember his name.
In the mornings the servers also remembered us and were very friendly to us. We often went to different places for dinner but again super friendly and would go out of their way if we needed anything and tried to make sure we were enjoying our vacation.

The rooms were very basic. It looks like they may have recently changed up some of the bedding and decorations in the rooms. There is just a shower no tub and no little shampoos and such like other hotels. No mini fridge with beers and pops.
Our balcony faced the pool. I would guess alot of the rooms do.

On the beach you can take out kayaks. We took one out one morning and caught up with a pod of dolphins. It was magical. They were right under the boat and breaching right next to us.
You can walk to many places from the beach. In one direction it brings you into Bucerias and tons of different restaurants on the beach. In town there are markets and lots of cool houses to see. We watched men fishing from the beach with nets. This attracted all sorts of birds.
The other direction are more hotels.

There are shows every night, they are pretty good. I got picked to be in a boys vs girls show. The girls won and I got to bring home a bottle of tequila!
There are also activities through the day around one of the pools and spanish lessons. I saw a schedule for a kids club but I did not see anything going on for a kids club.

The hotel offers a free tour of puerto vallarta. I did find though that the tour was more centered around taking you to buy tequila and taking you to buy lunch. We did go to the malecon but did not get to walk down it and we also went to a really nice church and a flea market oh! and a jewelry store to buy jewelry. The place we did go for lunch we georgous but expensive. The "tequila factory tour" is of course a place where they do not really make tequila but they quickly explain how they make it, then let you taste all the flavours they make then try and sell them to you. It was really expensive.

A few negatives I found at this hotel was for one the drinks. They used some very cheap and bad tasting liquor. I had a hard time finding anything I liked to drink because all the liquors tasted so bad. I mostly ended up drinking beer with clamato or ceasers when I usually like more fancy and fun drinks on holidays.
I also found the food to be hit and miss. Some nights I really had a hard time finding something to eat that tasted good. The italian restaurant was very good though!

Getting up early and waiting to book a reservation for the restaurants was also kind of tiring

This hotel is also a little ways away from puerto vallarta. If you are going into town in the day the bus should be no problem but if coming back at night and taking a cab it might be a little expensive.

If I return to this area I would most likely come back here if I could get a good deal on the hotel!
Otherwise next time I would like to be closer to town

Been here 10 times love it! Horses near by. Bucerias a nice walk down quit Mexican street to the market on Thursdays, and cool little locally owned shops. Lots of condos nearby owned by Canadians and US people coming for the winter, fun for us all inclusivers to dream about. Locals are really nice. There are camp grounds nearby so people there are shopping for their camping food and supplies, we spent one winter there in our trailer so fun! All Inclusive rates are vary reasonable. Good family and wedding venue! Right on the beach, great access from all rooms! I should actually work for these guys like it so much, never been sick! Going again Jan 10, 2015 for a week. So looking forward to it!

spent one week here in January 2014.
The hotel is perfectly located beachfront beside Bucerias,
Which was handy because they were trying to cut costs at the hotel by buying cheaper cuts for the restaurants and cheaper alcohol for the bars, and you could walk next door to eat.
I believe the staff was trying their best but it is difficult to make a silk purse from a sows ear.

We lasted one week then got the travel agent to move us to another hotel. The tour company was excellent, and switched us pain free.

We recently stayed for two weeks at this hotel. This is a 3 star hotel and therefore don’t expect 5 star facilities. It is good value for money.

The room (we were in Block 4) was basic and a bit dated, but it was clean and quiet. We would really have liked coffee making facilities in the room, but you can’t have everything. We had a problem with the shower and a shortage of towels, which we reported to reception and were sorted really quickly.

This is a very big complex but you can always get sunbeds by any of the pools or on the beach. There is a quiet adults-only pool, which can get noisy but has no music so that probably qualifies it as quiet. On the beach, there are a lot of vendors but they are not pushy and a polite “no gracias” will suffice. The sea was quite rough when we were there and you couldn’t see anything. The water is very warm but not suitable for small children as there are quite big waves and a very strong undertow.

The food in the main restaurants is quite good and plentiful, if a little bit repetitive. In the restaurants that you have to book, the food is tasty and the service is very good. Be aware that the Thai and the Japanese food is a somewhat Mexican interpretation of that cuisine, so don’t expect it to be very authentic! Rodizio is meat, meat and more meat, so make sure you’re really hungry before you go. The procedure for booking the restaurants is a pain because you really need to be reserving your table at 7.30am but not sure how else they could do it.

All the staff in the restaurants and bars are very friendly and helpful. There is a huge variety of cocktails, which are not very strong and all served in plastic cups. The reception staff were a bit hit or miss as they don’t all speak English but then I suppose we could try to speak Spanish!

We went on a couple of trips while we were there, booked through our rep at the hotel. Vallarta Adventures seem to have trips pretty much sown up, but they are really good and very well organised. Rhythms of the Night was amazing and San Sebastian was very interesting. There is also some amazing diving available – see Ana at the adult pool, she is so brilliant!!

You can borrow bicycles from the hotel and either do an organised tour or go off on your own. We cycled into Bucerias, the next village, which was fun. The bikes are very basic with no gears and you have to pedal backwards to brake, but it’s an experience. We also used the local buses into Puerta Vallarta and Sayulita (surfers area) which are cheap.

When deciding what currency to take with you, we would recommend taken Mexican Pesos as you get a much better price for things in Pesos than US/Canadian dollars or £.
