“Punches well”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

For a small town Aratoi produces some amazingly good exhibitions. One of the top Museums in provincial NZ. Not all exhibitions necessarily appeal but the ones that do not are rare. Great facilities, lovely staff and a wonderful cafe right there next door!!

“Mistakenly underrated”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

This Art and History museum is a great find in Masterton. I always enjoy the variety of exhibtions which often feature both local and international treasures.
The staff are helpful but totally leave you alone to look, ponder and enjoy at your own pace.
Entry is by way of donation and the gift shop is excellent for interesting local and NZ gifts.

“Come here all the time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Love the ambiance, love the food, love the coffee in the adjoining cafe (Entice), and always bring visitors to Aratoi to see the various displays. They're always freshly presented, interesting, and never fail to impress. A big WOW for a little town!

“professionally displayed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

This small museum was a surprise compared to some of the other community ones in the region.

The displays were professionally done with a good local history section as well as some art displays.

It would have been helpful for outsiders lacking much knowledge about the area to have a map or two so that relationship of what was being discussed would be more obvious.

The location is great right next to the local tourist information place and a busy cafe.

It made a nice stop

“An asset for a small town - well done.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Aratoi holds some interesting exhibitions. Like all art galleries and museums not everything on display is to my personal taste - but that is surely part of the reason for visiting. The museum contains a small collection of local history and usually has a couple of films running in a booth. There is always something of interest that makes me glad i visited.
