This is a wonderful place for a family holiday. Enjoy the beach, the lighthouse and the rock pools.

Our family have stayed at the camp ground twice, summer holidays over the last two years. Stayed with other familes. Great facilities for the kids, everything was clean and tidy. Had to pay for showers, but we were not staying in town, it is the countryside. Great spot on the beach.

This camp Ground (1 of 11 stayed in over 4 weeks) was the most expensive we have stayed in $45.00 per couple regardless of Power or not and on top of that pay for Showers and Cooking. Clean enough but so were our bank accounts Will NOT visit again and will NOT recommend to others. Shame that greed spoilt a scenic experience. I would like to add that some of the other camp grounds were in tourist spots and some more isolated than this so cannot understand the logic????

This camping ground in THE MOST EXPENSIVE we have ever stayed in and on top of that you have to pay for basic facilities like cooking in the kitchen and showers. The kitchen has absolutely no utensils, just hot water, oven, hot plates, fridge and microwave.

The facilities were very clean and the owner pleasant but our stay was disappointing. We had an un-powered tent site, one tent, two people and it was $45, I have never even paid anything like that even for a powered site for our caravan which we did not use.

Also the site we were on had a street light over it and it was like sleeping in the daylight.

We will NEVER go back to this place.

My partner and I stayed in a cabin over new years and friends of ours had a campsite. The cabin was $70 a night for 2 people which sounds ok....but our cabin was tiny and only fit the bed and walk in space. Even though we had paid $70 a night we still had to pay for the showers - 50c for 5 mins and you had to pay for the oven - $1 for 30 mins. washing machine and drier were $2 each. There were only 2 driers in the whole campsite and 1 of them was out of action the whole time we were there. Shower block only had 4 showers in men's and 4 showers in woman's and was closed between 11 and 12 each day for cleaning. You can hire fishing rods from reception for $15.

If your coming to stay here do you shopping before you come as the dairy down the road is very expensive and the service was shocking.

Overall this was a good stay but it is incredibly expensive for what you get.

Room Tip: Check out their motel units as they looked quite nice

Perfect location, but way too expensive. You even have to pay 1$ for 30 minutes of oven... Facilities are good, but there aren't enough during high season.

We camped here for 2 days in early October after a recommendation from an acquaintance. We were touring the North Island for the World Cup. To say that it was off-season was an understatement, as I believe we were the only people visiting Castlepoint. A very friendly and homey pub was just down the road and a small grocery store/cafe is available in the town. An absolutely stunning location! The walk to the lighthouse is great, but scrambling around the exposed reef near the lagoon (heads up for rogue waves!) is outstanding. The best hike is a very steep climb to the top of Castlepoint hill, with views far up and down the coast. Also a wonderful beach.

The campground was immaculately maintained! Highly recommended!
