I'll just put down thoughts on the Appts here - not on the travel with Crystal/Thompson which, in brief was HELL
Mixed reviews on here and elsewhere meant we were going in to the Planibel Appts not expecting luxury living, but hoping for decent skiing. We got what we expected - We had a one bed appt (slept 4, 2 in the bedroom, 2 on a sofa bed in the living room) -
Decor and fixtures were ok - well used, but not totally awful.
2 bathrooms were useful as was the "boot room" to store kit
Hot water always available, heating always on
SMALL kitchen area (as in cooking/prep) - fridge with ice box
2 hot rings and a microwave (which had a grill option) but no toaster or coffee maker/filter pot. all stored in a big wooden cupboard thing (think a mahogany piano! which was great if you didnt want to use it or look at dirty dishes)
Small amount of catering equipment so don't think you're going to be rustling up anything but the basics
Local restaurant choice fairly limited in number and menu choices - school canteen standard in La Cage Au Folies
Lovely Pizza in Le Dhau, Didnt eat in Kings Pub but the pizzas smelled good!
Supermarket in the complex adequate - (better than the one in the old town that's for sure)
Butchers in the Complex too - more a deli - had a good cheese counter, wines, pasta etc
Make a booking for Saturday nights - its crazy busy with tourists and locals.
There's a Swimming pool in hotel (appt users need to buy a pass on a weekly or daily basis 25 euros or 8 euros) looked tired and well used - that said we didnt actually swim in it as all swimmers needed
a) a swimming cap and b) what they called slippers (flip flops would suffice) - plus you hired towels at 3 euros each (no appt/hotel towels allowed)
We decided to buy the cap and flip flops in the local shops (25+ euros each) wasn't worthwhile
All non skiing activities (pool, spa in the Miramonti, tubing etc) tend to start after 3pm (so aren't much use to your party if you're looking for a skiing break or have non skiiers in the party)
WIFI (8 euros a day or 20 Euros a week) available in Hotel reception and bar areas only.
Free wifi (if you have a beer in Kings) but that doesnt open til 6.30 pm
rooms cleaned/sheets and towels changed mid week
