“Great Food, lovely surroundings, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

The two channels of water between the peninsula and little barrier and little and great barrier are known as Jellicoe & Cradock and this is where JAC’s Trading Co. comes from. Whangaparaoa’s newest hospitality venue situated on the edge of The Plaza on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. A family friendly bar featuring a pool table, spacious outdoor area, international beers on tap and a delicious gastropub style menu.
The above is their write up on JAC's website and to add to that we had lunch there and it was superb. My husband said it was the best Chicken Fettucinni he has ever had. My lunch special of crispy beef, walnut and blue cheese salad was also excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful when we asked that the music be turned down a notch as this was the only draw back for us when we first entered the restaurant. Recommended and will go back.

“Good value better than standard pub fare....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013 via mobile

Have been many times and continue to get good service and well priced quality food. Doesn't profess to be something it's not and I think it certainly has exceeded my expectations!!!keep up the good work guys. Just need a little more atmosphere (hard in that type of venue).......

“Nice place for a quick feed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Lunch menu is ok and is reasonably priced. Coffee is quite good but a bit inconsistent. The evening menu is nice but a bit like the same old same old. Overall a welcoming place.

“Enjoyable gastro-pub experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

My wife and I have been to JAC's three times for lunch now since it took over the space formerly occupied by Sizzle and Imbibe at Whangaparoa Plaza. Hopefully JAC's will be here to stay and make this space its own.

We've always found it easy to get a table with space for our baby stroller. Food has been mostly good; best so far was the Tindall's pizza, with just the right amount of chilli. Have tried the Beef & Blue burger but found it quite dry.

There are a few lunch specials for $12.50 but other than corn fritters (ok although I heard someone else raving about them) we've stuck to the main lunch menu.

This is a DB bar (owned partially by the Barworks who are part owners of Garrison at Sylvia Park) so expect lots Monteiths beverages. Several on tap. Unfortunately the prices are not all shown which always annoys me with menus. There is a good selection of quality wines, priced in line with premium venues.

Service has always been accommodating and friendly. No surcharges on public holidays : )

Overall this is not really a place for a cheap lunch, but that's ok as there are plenty of places like that around. Put aside $60 and you should have a decent lunch including a drink or two. Maybe a bit more for dinner depending on what you want. If you join the loyalty programme you get a running discount which you can use anytime or save up.

We will certainly be back for a fourth time and more.
