“Excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

We stayed for two nights mid March while on a 21day Motorhome tour of South and North islands. Excellent location close to lake - very clean - all facilities - very helpful and friendly staff. Short drive to Taupo centre - good selection of shops and restaurants. We had a powered site right on the lakeside - can be a little noisy at night with traffic from the main road but that is more than compensated by the lakeside position and view. Well worth a visit would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake side position you will not regret it

Excellent camping ground right on the lake edge! Facilities are fantastic and very clean. We stay here every summer and have a fantastic time. Very family friendly although there is a road close by it is well fenced off. Highly recommend!!

WE stayed 2 nights on one of the lakeside sites and really enjoyed it.. don't be worried about traffic noise at night - just pretend it is the waves your hear if you camp at a beach. The toilets and kitchens are amongst the cleanest we have found anywhere. We will certainly be back

Had a great few days here. Stayed right on the lake front.
The toilets, showers and all facilities are the best I have ever come across, so clean.
the grounds are clean and tidy and we had the best time.
Yes you are by the road, however the view and the facilities out way the road noise and after a day or so you get used to it. We are definitely going back.

Had a wonderful few days here over the new year, what an awesome place us first timers loved it and will be back, very impressed with how all amenities were very very clean! lovely service at reception was an all-round great time. Thanks so much for having us we were on the lake side in a tent site, noise from road did not bother us (got used to it)

Room Tip: Lake side is a bit noisy with overnight trucks, but we were 10 steps from the lake, couldn't bet...

I spent ten days at this fantastic central location situated between Turangi and Taupo. The camp is ideal for spending time in or on the lake, as well as being close to so many attractions and sights such as the Tongariro river, Natonal Park and the Tongariro Crossing, Kaimanawa Forest Park and Taupo. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful and treat all guests as if they were family. This included organising activities for guests like the bingo night, scenic flights and the annual New Year soccer game. The kitchen, toilet and shower blocks were exceptionally clean. The camp is split by the main highway but it is very easy and safe to cross over to the lake. Is definitely worth a repeat visit.

We'd stayed in epic locations, great, clean camp sites all around NZ. This location looked amazing, tbh, 'half' the view is stunning over Lake Taupo.

However, big however, it's ON the main highway!! And ur in a tent! Yep, lorries, idiots beeping continuously and boy racers buzzing by all night!

Planned to stay for 3nights, getting the heck out if here and back to paradise NZ. Idiotic place to put a camp site
