“A little piece of kiwi heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013 via mobile

We've stayed at Floating Rock / Kuratau River Wines three times and can't wait to come back again. The chalets in the vineyard are peaceful and beautifully appointed. They're spacious and comfortable.

It's great to borrow the kayaks and float down the Kuratau river to Lake Taupo.

The food at the cafe is delicious and the wood fired pizzas are certainly worth a visit. Their wine isn't well known but it should be. The pinky hue fizz is lovely and the Pinot Gris a delight. Their superb and easy drinking Pinot noir works very well with all of their pizzas.

Stay here. Eat here. Try the wine.

Great simple pizzas, amazing vista, lovely staff, fantastic very affordable wines. What more can you ask for. Feel very lucky to have Floating Rock so close by our Bach.

“the wine.............”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2012

Discovered you on our long weekend escape from the world whilst we searched for sun (which you had in buckets!), sadly the pizza oven wasn't on so we consoled ourselves with fabulous coffee, talking and wine tasting in the sun. Hardest decision of the day was what to buy and how much! We conquered and now we know the usual hours we'll be back on our next trip sun searching. Great spot, fabulously friendly people and gorgeous wine!

“Oh my God”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012

We stayed in Pukawa for 10 days, tried several restaurants and cafes in the area and this cafe won our hearts. It was recommended to us by a local lady in Turangi who dined here the day before. The place was humming with families, couples and us. We ordered our meal were served our wine and it was obvious theyll be a wait as there were a good number of people there. The wait wasnt as long as we thought so another few wines a flat white for my colleague Ella and due to the flavours in the pizzas we ordered more of those too. The staff were gorgeous, the pizzas just melted in our mouths and the wine...oh my god just devine and Air NZ award winning wines at that!. Kinda impressed with that considering im an air hostess with the opposition..emirates! The pizza oven just blew me away, i took a brochure and guess whos getting one built at home! Keep on doing what you are doing, it is so brilliant to see a small cafe in Kuratau amongst a beautiful setting with a sociable delightful atmosphere, superb hospitality, fine wine and delicious pizza. Keep telling the world about yourselves im someone who will be doing that for you.
