This resort is a nice hideway and bring you what you like to have for a quit break.
Friendly people and nothing seems to be impossible.
A place to return to!

The Puka Park is not your typical resort hotel. Its chalet rooms are set on a hillside in the bush in a really quiet and relaxing environment. It is a perfect get-away location.

The hotel was easy to find and the receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. She took us and our luggage to our chalet in a golf buggy.

Our tree hut chalet was exactly how I had imagined it to be from the website. Large double bed. Very clean though there was a slight musty smell. Bathroom was a good size with separate shower - all very clean but with fairly basic furnishings. There was no aircon but a ceiling fan. Good sized balcony/deck overlooking the surrounding bush.

The bar and restaurant are in the main building a short walk away downhill from the chalets (& uphill on the way back!). The bar has a lovely lounge area with comfy sofas and an outdoor deck again overlooking the bush - a fantastic place to chill out as the sun sets. We ate in the restaurant and thought the food was excellent with very attentive staff. As it was mid week and the restaurant is quite large the only criticism we had was that it was a little bit lacking in atmosphere. Breakfast was very good with the best revolving hotel toaster we have ever experienced - toasted perfectly in one go!!!

The hotel has a list of DVDs you can borrow free of charge which is great for late night entertainment. There is a PC available in reception for internet usage $5 for half an hour.

We didn't use the pool however we did make the most of the beautiful beach just a 10 minute walk away. We also walked to the shops in Pauanui (about 20 minute walk) where we found a fantastic cafe called the Chocolate Pretzel with a huge range of tasty looking foods and drinks.

If you want city centre chic then this hotel is not for you. If you want something a little different for a chill-out in natural surroundings then I would recommend the Puka Park. We loved it!

What a disappointment !
We just spent 2 nights at Puka Park Resort, including Christmas night, together with my husband and our three sons. Our expectations were high, given the pictures on the web site, raving comments, and the very high price they had quoted.
We were quite shocked when we arrived, as the place looks nothing like the website - outdated, dirty, moldy smells in the rooms. On top of that, the service was incredibly inexperienced and food just so-so.
Definitely stay away from this place !

very pleasant drive to get there and a very nice treehut room but this is not a five star resort and if you find walking uphill a problem (as the golf carts only go so far or as for a easy acees hut so no uphill walk to your hut.) this is not for you. Both my partner and i loved our time there and would recommed.the pool is closed till the 15th of november as they are repainting it.The restarant food was very so so for the price but service and the view is outstanding.i would say eat there if staying one night but if more there are nice cafes in town for another night.all and all a very very nice place to stay.

This is a great hotel nestled in the hillside above Pauanui, the service we received was first class, we ate dinner twice in the Miha restaurant (this is because we couldn't find anything else locally due to time of year). The service we received was fantastic, the food was good if slightly fussy, they are having a good attempt at fine dining however due to the style of the resort a more relaxed menu would be more in keeping. We booked a chalet which was an upgrade from the standard tree house, the room was really nice, clean, had a comfortable couch to sit on and a nice view of the village below over the trees. I would say the only snag with the hotel is the steep climb to each of the rooms, this wasn't helped with the fact it was raining during our stay which made some of the paths slightly slippy. Overall it was a lovely hotel, with attentive staff and if and when we go back to New Zealand I would be more than happy to stay there again.

We loved our short stay at Puka Park. The bungalow we had had a beautiful view over the town to the sea, and lots of sun in the morning and afternoon. Quality of furnishings in the room is high as well, and bed was very comfortable. The hotel is spread out across the hillside and the pathways are steep for those not in top athletic condition (like us!) however the staff are happy to run you up to your bungalow in the hotel van which makes it much more enjoyable. We dined in the hotel's restaurant and found the food and service to be top class, with some nice local wines on the list as well. Overall very impressed.

Surprised at the value of this Hotel had to offer...It was outstanding, the surrounds were sereal, the chalet amongst the tree-tops romantic and above all the staff amazing !
We dined at their "Miha Restaurant" and enjoyed one of the best meals we have had for a long time. The restaurant's choice of menu was good and the waiter staff knew their product. Our compliments went to the chef 'Ben' and our waiter 'Florian' .
Our stopover was only for one night on our way to Rotorua, we would have liked a couple more if not for our schedule.
I would thoroughly recommend the Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort any time.
