“Chic boutique experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2011

A stay at the Casa del Mare is less like staying in a B&B and more like staying in a beautiful boutique hotel. De'arne's taste in home furnishing and decor is fantastic there are loads of wonderful little touches throughout the house and this is carried through to the guest experience with personalised name cards on the bedside tables.

The bedroom suite is soooo comfortable (I need those pillows!!!) and there is a fab bathroom. The guest area is also well appointed with a large tv area complete with dvd's to enjoy and a very well stocked tea and coffee facility. There is also a great outdoor area which looked stunning (unfortunately we were hit by bad weather the day we stayed so we were unable to enjoy it to it's potential...but never mind there is always next time...and there will be a next time!!!).

Breakfast was also a delight, with loads of choice and delicious homemade jam which you enjoy whilst gazing out to the ocean (even the bad weather didn't harm the view, the waves were just crashing a little louder).

Finally, I can't finish this review without mentioning Roxie (the family cat), even if your not a cat person you can't help but fall for her charms. She is possibly one of the cutest animals I've ever seen and very placid.

We will definitely be returning to the Casa del mare and dining at Bluebiyou again, a great recommendation by De'arne.

We had the pleasure to spend 5 nights at the Casa Del Mare, the beautiful home of De' Arme & Graham. We were immediately impressed with the beautiful design, large scale, and quality of home & garden. We enjoyed the delicicious breakfasts they prepared on the terrace so that we could soak in the million dollar view of the Pacific Ocean, even on cool mornings. Their advice with respect to restaurants, touring, & even setting up tennis with a friend was so helpful & appreciated but they went way beyond.
De'Arne & Graham are such simpatico, outgoing people that they make you feel more like friends than guests. Our stay with them was truly a highlight of our two months in New Zealand!

My partner and I stayed with De'arne when we were in Papamoa for a wedding. Sadly we were only there one night and so weren't able to fully enjoy the room and facilities (oh man where do you get those sweet pillows and bedding?!), but we were able to get a taste of De'arne's fabulous hospitality. The place has a luxe mediterranean vibe but the service is pure kiwi awesome, felt like we were staying with old mates. Delicious breakfast too - yum fresh blueberries!
Thanks De'arne, we shall be back when in that neck of the woods again.

If you enjoy luxurious surroundings and being pampered with subtle, friendly attention, this is the place to stay in the Bay of Plenty area.
My wife and I spent 5 nights at Casa Del Mare after four weeks touring New Zealand. The purpose was to wind down and absorb our experiences. We could not have chosen a better place. Casa Del Mare is a haven of peacefulness. De’arne and Graham are the most gracious of hosts and made us feel totally welcomed into their stunning home. Luxurious appointment and quality are evident in every aspect, from linens to the Mediterranean style gardens adjacent to each bedroom, to the fresh muffins served on arrival. Meticulous attention to detail is evident in all aspects of this boutique B&B.
Hot or cold breakfasts are your choice, but either way you will enjoy well prepared, abundant, and tasty fare. The views with breakfast are of the Bay and add to the specialness of the surroundings.
The large common area between the bedrooms has an entertainment center, tea service, wine glasses, wireless internet, and even a refrigerator. Quiet reading areas are important for us and this area, along with the courtyard, were total comfort in meeting our need to relax. While the beautiful, quiet beach is a very short walk, restaurant dining requires a drive with many choices less than ten minutes away.
We truly enjoyed our hosts, who are fascinating people, each in their own way. They were very attentive with insight, information, directions and recommendations. They even escorted us to a favorite restaurant area in town one afternoon to ensure we found it. It was worth it. I plan to return one day to take Graham up on a promise to go Kontiki fishing.
Thank you De’arne and Graham, for sharing your beautiful home and for providing us with such an enriching experience to end our fascinating trip to New Zealand.

What a pleasure to stay here! First class furniture, luxurious linen and superb service from owners De'arne and Graham made this the best ever B&B experience for my husband and I. The bed was so comfortable we were loathe to get up each morning however the temptation of De'arnes cooking ensured we never missed breakfast. De'arne and Graham are wonderful friendly hosts with loads of local knowledge to share if asked.

We recently had the good fortune to stay a couple of nights at Casa del Mare.
The home is beautifully presented .On the lower level both luxurious guest bedrooms are decorated in lovely soft colours. The bedrooms and guest lounge all open to a delightful private and sunny Tuscan style courtyard. A perfect spot to relax and have a wine or two.
We particularly loved the large comfortable beds, crisp linen , yummy freshly baked muffins generously provided on arrival and the delicious fresh breakfast.
De'arne & Graham are the perfect hosts.
Thank you both so much for a most enjoyable stay.
