My boyfriend and I stayed in Ghlasdrium for two nights in early August 2010 and had a lovely stay. The B&B was immaculately clean, lovely breakfast and spacious bathrooms. Maureen was a lovely hostess who took care of the little details, for instance she remembered what myself and my boyfriend liked for breakfast and brought us a refreshing cup of tea when we arrived after a gruelling drive and long day out, which to us was a needed welcome. The bedrooms were adequate, beds were comfortable, warm, with en-suite and TV.
The location of the B&B was ideal, located in the village of glencoe close to the lochen trail which is a must see for staying in the area with a great view of the pap of glencoe. A short walk in the opposite direction takes you to a place where you can watch the most beautiful sunset. It is also a short distance from Fort William, Oban and Ballachulish which previously was a slate quarry but is still steeped in local history.
In terms of places to eat, you need to try to eat early as most places close quite early and for us this was important as we are used to being able to eat at all times. Maureen recommended the local Glencoe hotel but my boyfriend and I took a short drive through the village and found the Clachaig Inn which is renowned for being one of the best pubs in Scotland. This had amazing food and very good service so if you feel like venturing a bit further afield this pub/B&B should be sought.
I would recommend this B&B to others as it was good value for the price we paid. The service was good but we were slightly put off by the rules of the B&B which included no alcohol or food in the rooms and guests needed to be back by 10pm which we thought was slightly unnecessary. We did however find on our second night that some of the rules were actually for our benefit as I was awoken by some late arriving guests who had been delayed and were quite high-spirited from their journey. I think for us the only other downside we could find was that the decor of the throw and curtains was a little outdated but this did not distract from the fact we had a lovely stay.
