“Great Food, Great Service, Great Location.... Massive Potential... needs money to go places”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2011

My wife, young daughter and myself booked this hotel. Only to see the streetview in googlearth from imagery dated 2009 and thought what have we done....

Due to the fab service reviews on hear and the fab location (perfect for the Nevis Range, Fort William and beyond) we took a deep breath and went... We're both glad we did... The food was exceptional and the service was that of a much higher class hotel. The staff were all extremely friendly and very helpful. Infact they went beyond helpful at times. I can't fault any of the above.

The only issue you may find is that the images on the website are a tad misleading and the rooms, although obviously have been renovated, require a little extra money throwing at them from the Hotel Group this belongs too... Door handles are dated (First Impressions), the bathrooms are also dated. However, the rooms are spotlessly clean... Also alot of people say the hotel is musty, it is BUT if you do a little research you'll find the hotel has been there for quiet some time.... I think the efforts made to help the mustyness disperse are commendable.

I feel the hotel group involved have a little gem here, with a little investment (or even a lot eg the empty lot and half of the hotel screams leisure centre or spa) and with the current management, this hotel will go far and will find the wife and I visiting again...

Thankyou to Nigel and his staff for a wonderful stay...

Hurry up Hotel group and get your hands in your pockets...

Room Tip: 116 bye far the best view and largest room in hotl

All the staff were very attentive and helpfull. Best friendly service we have ever had. They were a new team apparently been there 5 weeks and turning the hotel round. The manager was everywhere. The food was excellent. One of the best steak burgers I have had and onion rings made freshly with slices of real onions The room was a good size and had loch views and was a bit extra but worth it with a large bay window. Looked like new beds and curtains. The bathroom was basic and along with a lot of scottish hotels needs refurbishment. Everything was very clean. The general decor was not anything special

party of six walking friend stayed for 3 nights dinner bed and breakfast, we had the most fantastic service from every member of staff we meet. Going back to this hotel at the end of long wet walking day you will be greated by friendly staff, cosy bar, and great food thanks for a lovey stay.

When we first saw the hotel it appeared to be non-descript and in need of a facelift. While these traits remained the same, the personal attention of Nigel (the newly appointed Manager) made all the difference. From finding us a room suitable to our needs, to ensuring that our favourite beverages were in stock. When they weren't, he rectified the situation. He is a hands on and personable manager. Without his presence, I believe the hotel could not sustain repeat patronage without major renovations without increasing the room and food rates.
Nice job Nigel.

We booked this hotel to do a bit of hillwalking so the location was perfect. The room was ok and the bathroom was a bit tired but it was fine for what we required. We booked dinner, B&B. The breakfast and dinner was excellent. Cant fault the food at all. We enjoyed it so much we paid the supplement for the steak on the second night and that was excellent as well. The service from the staff was superb as they met our every need (drying off clothes etc).
