“Clean and family friendly beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

we took reveiwers advice an took a day out to visit the sands, excellent ,grreat to see young and old walking or playing on the beach, dogs are now allowed on certain bits at certain times of the day but this is no real hardship as there is miles of beach to chose from, excellent little cafe that sells cheap food and the folk there real friendly,, will deffinately be back next year with our grandson,

“great beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Our whole coastline is glorious, Tynemouth has the priory and its history.
The beach is long with dunes on the roadside hills.
It is great for surfing and on a sunny day is comparable to the gorgeous watergate bay in Cornwall.
Cafe open from early hours is very informal and welcoming...
A lovely refreshing walk along a glorious beach where you will see many passing ships entering tyne dock. The pier down by the priory is another lovely walk, grab some fish and chips from front street and choose your spot to relax........walk it in a storm...its lovely.
enjoy

Eileen

“Great all year round beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

We live in Newcastle and come to Longsands throughout the year. Our kids have grown up here from being babies playing in the sand, and now they love body boarding and surfing. It's a great place to learn to surf or for swimming. The beach shelves gently and there's no currents. It's always clean lovely golden sand and as clear as you can get for North Sea water, you can park close by, there's life guards for swimmers and surfers, and a great year round café on the beach. It's also a beautiful expanse of sand. Tynemouth is a lively place with lots of places to eat, and to see. There's plans by locals to bring the old outdoor swimming pool back to life which would be a really good attraction.

“traditional seaside fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

My 5 year old daughter and grandma and grandad have spent the first week of the school hols on this beach in the sunshine. They've been paddling, making sandcastles and looking in rockpools and just enjoyed being outside. The cafe on the beach is very nice but it can get expensive to eat out in the school holidays so we normally take a picnic.
