“Nice enough, but there's better...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

A short stretch of golden clean sands bounded by low cliffs is Tynemouth beach. It's not exactly world class, but that said, it's a nice enough when the weather is warm. And this being the far North East of England, that's a rare event. Personally I prefer the less popular beaches further north in Northumberland.

“One word - AMAZING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2012

Metro train to Tynemouth Station - 30 mins from Newcastle Central.

Lovely vintage style market on Saturday / Sunday's every weekend.

Then we walked down Front Street and visited the gorgeous Priory Castle with its breathtaking views along the river tyne, take your camera!!

Then we walked along the headland past some magnificent houses to the Imposing Grand Hotel with its shimmering chandeliers where we had a lovely afternoon tea.

We then went down onto the clean, soft white sand of Tynemouth Longsands.. I could'nt believe how many people visited the beach on a cold sunny January day, but the beach was so busy with people of all ages it was breathtakingly beautiful.

I alway's thought Cornwall's beaches were the best in the world until I came up North and visited this very long and beautiful beach.....

If your in the North you must bring your family down to this hidden gem on the North East Coastline.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2012

Walking along this stretch of beach cannot fail to calm you, to make you appreciate natural beauty. Spotlessly clean golden sand, the sound of gulls circling above you, miles and miles to walk - or sit and watch the world go by!

Wonderful beaches for everyone. Facilities top notch - toilets, refreshments, seating, beachside cafes.

“Well worth the visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

I visited Tynesmouth several times and always enjoyed the visit. Taking the train from Newcastle, it's a pleasant short walk to the shore from the Tynesmouth station. It's a pleasant walk along the shore and I would include Tynemouth Priory in your visit, overlooking the ocean. Walk on the other side of the Priory back towards town and then if you're hungry be sure to stop at Marshall's for their amazing fish and chips. The water is cold year round so while people do surf, it's not much above 17 C. Well worth the visit!
