“Unmissable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

The castle is definitely not the largest or most impressive you will visit in your life but with this picturesque little town and amazing beaches nearby (in beauty and size) it will altogether definitely be part of an amazing day out with family, friends or even alone.

My son suggested we go to Tynemouth for the day and it was really lovely so many great places to eat and shop. A really surprising gem of a place.

“More to Tynemouth than just a fabulous beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

Tynemouth is a nice seaside town to visit at any time of year; good pubs and restaurants, a restored Victorian railway station, and of course, the magnificent priory.
There is a more modern fort built to the same design as British forts all over the Empire and is very interesting to visit. It all belongs to English Heritage, and its worth becoming a member rather simply paying the entrance fee.
Its in a great location overlooking the mouth of the Tyne and the North Sea. During school holidays there is always something going on that all the family would enjoy.

“Historic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

The Priory and Castle are the first thing you see when standing at the mouth of the Tyne Centuries old it has weathered many a storms and even wars. Not to be missed if you visit this village.
Tynemouth itself has a lot to offer with very good Hotels and Bed & Breaksfast establishments within walking distance from the main Front Street. During the day it is bustling and as many cafe's restaurants and pubs all of a very high standard. At night it comes alive as people sit around enjoying a glass or two of Wine or ale. Tynemouth has excellent transport as it is connected to the Metro system and is on the main line for visiting Newcastle. .
