“Average Food very expensive Drinks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Went with friends and we all thought our choices from the specaila lunch menu was Ok but that was all. Chicken in cheesey bread crumbs was very hard, and the breaded prawns were over cooked. Fine chips and desserts, but the wine prices were so high we wished we had gone else where. Go again? probably not.

“Sad decor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

A typical Vintage Inn with low ceilings, cosy corners and (for the winter) several open fires. A good choice of food, best value before 5.00 p.m. The atmosphere is let down by the sad, drab décor..

“Could be better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We were staying at the Innkeepers Lodge-(which was fine), however the restaurant let our stay down. The meals were costly for what you were presented with. One meal was a meat pie, chips and veg which was ok, apart from some hard chips but nothing to write home about, the other meal was half a chicken and new potatoes which were tasteless and not scrubbed well at all. There was no veg with the meal only a few rocket leaves. The menu lacked variety, no Jacket potatoes or any really lighter meals apart from sandwiches. There was a Specials menu but this was very pricey. I cant say I would recommend or eat here again unless the standard and quality of the food improved.

“Pretty but average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Lovely spring day in the beer garden. Lovely setting with a nice glass of wine. However, the food was quite average and very overpriced. I ordered steak salad but the steak was so tough, I literally could not chew it and had to send it back. They were very accommodating and I asked for the salmon instead, which was tasty, but tiny! The service was a bit slow but it was a busy day. We would return but probably not for food.

“Definit improvement from 3 years ago”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Last time I was here was bout 3 years ago with hubby and in-laws and found it to be a bit pretentious, and expensive for what was presented to us, consequently had not been back. But a friend and I regularly lunch out for a catch up session and this was her choice today. Apparently it has changed hands and it would appear it may be part of a chain, but the change was for the better. Extensive menu, a set charge menu if you wish, you would have to be very picky not find something you fancied. We did not have anything fancy, but what we did have was very nice and the service was good. All for a very affordable price. Will expect my husband to take me there next time he suggests a lunch/supper out. (Look out dear - it might be sooner than later!)
