“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Stayed for 1 night for a family Birthday. Good value for money, large room with everything you need. The staff very friendly. Good breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel and you can hardly hear the trains.

Room Tip: We stayed in the ground floor, very large rooms

recently stayed here as we were going to the olympics and needed easy access into London. Brilliant value for money, large clean bathroom and large clean rooms with tea and coffee making facilities and TV. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the wonderful breakfast cooked and served by Peter was the icing on the cake!! We will definately be staying there again on our future trips to London.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

I stayed here last weekend whilst visiting friends in Sawbridgeworth. I booked a room for single occupancy at £44.99 per night. This rate does not include breakfast but all the items available were at a reasonable price.

I was given a very large room with two single beds which I thought was excellent. The room was very good. It had a TV and tea and coffee making facilities and a good sized bathroom.

Although it is across the road from the station I was not aware of noise from the trains.

It is about a 10 minute walk up to the main part of Sawbridgeworth where all the shops and restaurants are.

For location and cost I thought it was very good and I would return again.

recent stay for 2 nights.this is my 3rd visit.very good location near a very nice village-albeit a short pleasant walk.food is excellent-absolutely brilliant food and good portions!breakfast very good with excellent and prompt service.all the staff are extremely pleasant.highly recommended .but----i stopped in room 12 and it appears that there is no ongoing maintenance as faults included:toilet seat broken, bath and sink tap continually dripping, extraction fan in bathroom was full of dust, all window catches loose, curtain hooks dropped off curtains---please do not let the quality of this hotel go downhill for the sake of minor repairs!!!--otherwise this hotel/pub is faultless!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2011

I found hotels in the area either very expensive for a single traveller, or unavailable, so I was pleased to get in here and it was geographically convenient for where I was going in the evening. Staff were friendly and pleasant. Room was very large and spacious. Room facilities included tea and coffee making and TV, but there was no hairdryer in the drawer, just an instruction booklet for it. The bathroom mirror /shaving light and the extractor weren't working. Bed was clean and comfortable.
Main drawback is the noise from the railway - not the trains themselves, but the frequent beeping of the level crossing alarm. Fortunately I had ear plugs with me. This meant I didn't hear my own alarm clock the next day! However, breakfast wasn't included in my room rate, so I didn't feel I had wasted any money when I had to dash off without it.
