“False advertising, poor quality hotel book with caution!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2015

Booked this hotel based on the fact that it's a reasonable price close to the beach and looks, in the pictures hospitable. However upon arrival at the hotel it was under construction and we were not made aware of the circumstances. Rooms are VERY basic poorly decorated limited functuality and unhygienic. We booked a double room in which they booked us into a twin room which we did not ask for. Lights hanging off the walls, dirt and grime around the bathroom trailing electrical cables that looked unsafe. The noise from construction was unbearable, woken up as early as 7am by loud drilling and banging, the floor vibrating underneath us. There is nothing good about this hotel except of its location right next to the beach. Book with caution or at least ask if the construction has been finished before booking this hotel otherwise you will be awakened in the early hours of the morning.... Very disappointed overall.

The hotel is very basic , almost ascetic. You will find everething you need but not more. The same about breakfast.
Heater for cold weather is here. Internet works only in the bar. Overall impression is not positive.
I would not come back here, it is not nice and cosy.

Stayed there for 4 days , our room was cleaning daily and staff were very helpful. Sometimes because of their English it could give out impression that they are not friendly , in fact they are willing to help with your queries.

The long sandy beach is only 3 mins away. It's a very good beach for those who like surfing .

You can get to this hotel from bus station outside Lisbon metro station Pc Espanha and take coach 161 or 153 and get off at Costa Caparica town centre which is the stop right after roundabout where it has a
seafood shop. The coach journey take about 35 mins.

very upset with this Hotel for twice cancelling our bookings from two different comparison sites. They cancelled the booking made with Venere.com and Expedia.com with the same lame excuse about my credit card, either though I used a different card for each reservation. I just hope they have deleted all my card details... Very dodgy set up.

AVOID!!

The location of Praia do Sol is just great. It is close to the centre and it's not even a 5 minutes walk to the long, sandy beach. The restaurants in the area are very good. The Italian restaurant was one of the highlights of our stay :) There is a little ice-cream shop owned by a man which is absolutely amazing. There is a supermarket very close to the hotel and the prices are unbelievable. We always did our shopping there for our breakfast and we never paid more than 10€ and left with a full bag of things. The staff in the hotel is very good. The level of English is great. You can get your point across even is they don't fully understand. The only thing we didn't like in the hotel is that, since it is an old building, the walls are very thin and you could clearly hear what was going on in the other parts of the hotel. It wasn't too disturbing but it's just something to watch out for, if you are looking for a quite and relaxing holiday, try a different hotel. The hotel room was lovely and clean. They clean the rooms everyday and bring you new towels also. We would recommend this hotel 100%!!
At the airport if you are using a taxi WATCH OUT for the taxis with no sign on them. To the hotel you should only pay around 25€ but if you aren't careful you will pay double of that, or more. It happened to us and we weren't too happy. But the taxi prices are pretty good too.

We were leaving Porto, Portugal and wanted to go to Lisbon. We couldn't believe how costly the hotels were in Lisbon so after a great deal of research we found Hotel Praia Do Sol. We thought it was actually in Lisboa, but upon arrival by train to Lisboa, we discovered it was 1 1/2 hrs away by train and bus. Fortunately the people at the train station were amazingly helpful (as were all the people we interacted with in Portugal) and thanks to a crusty but kind bus driver, we found this little gem. Don't get me wrong-- it is old-- very old. The rooms are small but amazingly clean. We had a bathroom in our room, daily maid service, helpful staff and a very inexpensive 3 day stay-- 70 Euro. We walked out the front door of the hotel, turned left and walked a couple of blocks and there were 7 kilometers of unspoiled beach. We loved the beauty of the area, the ability to walk for ks undisturbed right on the beach. We watched the surfers and people simply enjoying the ocean. If you are an adventurous traveller that doesn't need fancy places just to sleep in, this is the place for you. The hotel staff, especially a lovely lady whose name I can't recall, was great. They answered all of our questions and couldn't have been kinder. Beware however, it takes a bus ride, a ferry boat ride and a tram ride to get to the center of Lisboa. We are not into nightlife and closing the bars at 4 a.m. but if you are, this is not the hotel for you. If you simply want a place on the beach with good restaurants and helpful people, this is the place for you.
