“An unforgettable week in an amazing location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

When we decided on Umbria for a week's holiday we wanted somewhere where we could remove ourselves from the grid for a week and just switch off and enjoy basic things - we couldn't have found a better place to do this than L'Ariete. The hosts Andreas and Martina were wonderfully warm and friendly and have obviously put the place together with a lot of heart and soul. A stunning location with a retained rustic charm meant utter relaxation. The outdoor pool area is immaculately kept and their guests-only restaurant offers local produce dishes which easily out-do most professional restaurants. We loved it here and will definately be coming back.

My husband and I visited L'Ariete in Umbria for a 4 nights last week and had a wonderful time! The room was spotless and filled with rustic Italian charm and love. Andreas (our host) was very friendly and funny and welcomed us with a beautiful dish of antipasti right in our room!
Andreas and his wife Martina were more than willing to help with any questions we had about the area and we feel truly grateful for their outstanding service.
The B&B itself is a magnificently preserved historical building and its grounds are very well taken care of and filled with lush gardens of lavender. There is also a perfect pool were we spent a lot time in! And the views...the views!!!!! They are breathtaking!
The B&B also has a small restaurant where Andreas hosts and Martina cooks. A must try!!!! Martina cooks up impressive local dishes with much care and Andreas lovingly serves them. The restaurant has an amazing patio with views that will take your breath away!
Together, Martina and Andreas have created the B&B of dreams: Warm atmosphere, tasteful decor and delicious food!

Mi and my girlfriend went on an Italian trip during Easter time, both from cold and windy Middelkerke in Belgium and full of desire for sun, culture and good meals. Actually we searched a lot of accommodations and finally we found the agriturism Ariete in Umbria, in the heart of Italy. This activity is run by Martina and Andreas an Austrian couple who travelled a lot around the world and settled finally in Umbria, and they did it well! Both are so kind and helpful and full of enthusiasm for their work and for the land they choose - excluding Berlusconi! We extremely enjoyed the sunny hours at the large pool with a cold drink and in the evening the extremely good food from Martina. She has an Italian “Mama” who is making the fresh pasta she offered and all the vegetables comes from her own garden. We really like the way they are living, their policy and how they tread their guests. While we were staying at this wonderful place a blind German couple was spending also their holidays at Ariete. We had never seen such a hearty situation before. Martina was explaining them all the beauties in the surroundings and then they went together to Montone to visit a small festival together. The two Germans could imagine all the things she was explaining them and she tried to fulfil all their wishes. The both felt so good and we too! We never saw such a nice place and we try to come back in September with our bicycles! Thank you both so much and we wish you a very successful season! Lisa and Daan

Skiing in Italy, great idea! But what to do if you break your leg second day on the slope???!!! Thanks god my partner is more a pleasure-seeker than a sportman so we changed our plans....as we are extremly flexible....and haded south, direction to Rome. It may not be the typical time to visit central Italy, but we definitely did not regret!! Bying truffles and fresh olive oil directly from producers, eating the best pizza in the country, best ice cream.....exactly as it says in the famous book : Eat, pray, love. Lariete was a perfect starting point for this; we were lucky enough to be there during a local fiesta in the small town Montone, oilmills around the corner, beautiful places like arezzo and assisi very close, florence a nice day trip – and the best – no queues in museums, churches. I loved that the Lariete landlord let me make a fire in their wonderfull restaurant...well in their fireplace, to be honest.. I turned into a pyromaniak and burned all his wood!!!! So guys, if you are looking for the most exciting and friendly place to stay in Umbria, come to see Martina and Andy, stay with them couple of days and say hi from me. ((-:
