“Chillaxing in Montone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 3 nights. The full moon rising over the mountain ranges we could view from our balcony was really magical.
The food was excellent, local dishes served by very friendly staff.
The pool has spectacular views over the surrounding countryside as did our room.
We think all rooms have modern bathrooms and interior furnishings.
The hotel is close to the village where there are one or two other small restaurants and a shop and museum.
And last but not least,- Mario, the boss, he certainly "went the extra mile" for us, he speaks good English and a few other languages too, - so could help us with our translation. He always had a sincere "Bonjourno", for us and made sure with the help of his staff, that our needs were met.
This was our first visit to Italy, - we were not disappointed,- it was great.
We had a very quiet and relaxed time here. A unique little gem.

This hotel was really nice! The rooms were modern and clean with beautiful views of the Umbrian countryside. The staff were the real treasure of this hotel - all made us feel very comfortable from the word go. Mario the manager was very friendly!

The only issue I had with this hotel was small somewhat 'unesscary' charges, wifi for example was not free - although only cheap to get connected! Though air con (which was needed in 35c heat) was 50 euros for our 4 days there.

All in all this is a GREAT hotel, and we would definately stay again..highly reccommended!

Nice hotel, very relaxed, no strict pool opening times etc. Great pool with amazing view. food was pricey a la carte so try and phone and get a package with meals included. They speak English on the desk so no problem to phone or email, also the manager Mario said they could do a family discount for parents with children and ring or email them to arrange transfers to perugia.

Montone is a really pretty hilltop village with one or too grocery stores, 3 restaurants, a museum and a post office. Not much to spend your money on! But great place to stay for a 'do nothing break'. To have a more filled holiday you would need to have a car.

I had a very relaxed and super comfortable stay at Hotel Fortebrraccio. The setting is impressive on the top of a hillside and the local town of Montone is a great little place to wander round or relax in the Piazza. The staff gave us a warm welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a pristine room with an incredible vista over the valley that was peaceful and private. The food was delicious at the restaurant and gave us a chance to sample some of the local delicacies. In sum I felt like I recharged my batteries in the lap of luxury. Thank you Mario, Christina, Maria, Stephano and the rest of the staff for a great taste of Italy. I hope to return.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful stay-the staff were unbelievably friendly, doing whatever they could to help out. The restaurant was brilliant-absolutely delicious food and very reasonably priced. The room was large and comfortable but had a slightly soulless feel. Overall a wonderful stay and we'd definitely go again!

Nice 3 stars hotel with some good extras: minibar ( quite unusual in Italy in a 3 stars hotel) in the room with reasonable prices and a small swimming pool where you can relax after the drive to come to Montone.Clean and confortable room bigger than usual, the furniture brand new....
There's also a small SPA I didn't have time to try.
If you are an Art-lover there's the chance to visit Città di Castello and Umbertide with its Rocca or a little bit far (about 60km) also Perugia or Assisi....
Definitely I think Montone and Fortebraccio hotel allow a relaxing holiday for few days or longer and also you can have a look to Umbrian artistic trasures

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor are the quieter and if you ask for a room with balcony they also offer a st...

Outstanding small hotel which was very good value for money. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed - the staff were all delightful, and Mario was a superb and welcoming host. Stunning views and a great pool. Excellent location for touring Umbria, and Montone itself is a beautiful small medieval town. Really good Umbrian food, and excellent pizzas, at reasonable prices in the hotel restaurant. We stayed five nights and would definitely go again
