“Yes, yes, yes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

so many excellent fish restaurants to choose from in this corner of Sicily and this is one of them. The tuna antipasto was very tasty while the seafood couscous was quite spectacular. Served with various condiments, this dish was the best cous cous I've ever had. Even the Sicilian lemons that came with the cous cous were sublime. (Diners at other tables were having a less positive experience but that's their problem, not mine.)

“Avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012 via mobile

My partner and I are generally pretty forgiving people, but this place had very few redeeming qualities. Rude staff, not realising I could speak Italian, telling one another not to bother trying to give us advice on the menu through Italian because we could not understand( or so they thought), sneered at our wine choice( again, in Italian) and the food was very poor. They speciality Cous Cous was average, with tiny bone shards from the mutton shin adding an unpleasant texture. The grilled shrimp were bland, and considering we were a stones throw from the sea, and the wide availability of fresh seafood( its everywhere)there is no excuse for this lack of quality. " lamb" tajine- was mostly skin and gristle rather than actual lamb meat, and the menu was vastly overpriced. Avoid, in fact run in the opposite direction.

“Excellent, delicious, charming - can't recommend enough!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

Had an amazing few meals here when my wife and stayed in San Vito in sept '11. The food was amongst the best we had in Sicilly (not just the cous cous, but the pasta dishes as well - their pasta con sarde is an absolute delight!), the wait staff are so friendly, efficient and attentive, and the ambience is lovely.
The restaurant looks a little touristy, but was recommended to us by many locals - I can see exactly why!

“FANTASTIC!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2011

We live in London and have eaten in Michelin star restaurants in London, Paris and Barcelona. Casa del Cous Cous is, however, one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten in! This is home cooking but the food is sublime with amazing combinations of ingredients and tastes. We ate here 3 times during our stay in San Vito and are desperate to return.
The restaurants is centrally located, yet off the main thoroughfare, Via Savoia, so that it caters to locals rather than only tourists. The place itself is charming - it has a delightful verandah and diners are able to see cous cous being made on site.
The menu is extensive with some great antipasto dishes - from the typical caponata to less well known dishes like tuna with sweet onions (fabulous). There are a number of great seafood pasta dishes. For lunch we ate pasta con sarde, pasta con sepia, which were amazing! The main event though is the cous cous, which is out of this world. There are meat versions available as well as seafood cous cous dishes. We ate the seafood cous cous twice and both times it was wonderful. The fish and sea food is fritto and it is served with trapanese pesto and a spicy sauce, along with the fish broth. The flavors and textures are amazing. There is a good selection of desserts but the portions are huge so you may not be able to fit one in. The selection of wine is excellent, with bottles of local wines at around 10 euros. The food too is excellent value for money, with mains between 10-15 euros.
Service is great - Waiters are not sycophantic but they are friendly and extremely efficient. Each time we ate here the place was full but they still made sure we had everything we needed. We would have loved to have eaten here everyday for lunch and dinner but decided we needed to try other places in San Vito - nevertheless we kept coming back here and made sure we had our last meal here too.

“Cous Cous that'll knock your socks off!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

We weren't expecting much, given that it was cous cous, but after eating here, we're huge fans. From watching the owner's wife making the cous cous, to the owner giving a history of it to the entire restaurant, to the dish itself, we couldn't have been more thrilled with the meal and experience. Not sure how other folks didn't enjoy it, but we checked out every other place that made cous cous, and this place blew it away. I'd go back just for the cous cous, and their hot sauce will put hair on your chest!
