“Wonderful Pre-Cruise Base in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

Having decided to spend a few days in Rome before boarding our ship for a return trip back to Florida, we booked a stay at the Best Western Hotel Riviera in Fiumicino. We had what every stay at a hotel should be, no disappointments. From the shuttle that picked us up at the airport, to the service, cleanliness, ample breakfast buffet, spacious room, and internet service, we were totally satisfied with our stay. The one key person who makes everything click at this hotel is Vincenzo. He is the go-to hotel professional who provides the answers and makes things happen. We followed his restaurant recommendations, and we were delighted with the wonderful food at the seaside restaurant. He can also arrange a shuttle to Rome at extra cost. It is quite a value, considering the cost of a cab to Rome. If you need extra room, and would like a spacious terrace to enjoy the view of the sea, consider reserving their upper floor suite, it is beautiful. This hotel makes you feel that you are a valued guest, rather than just a number on a reservation sheet.
We would definintely book this hotel again on our return trip to Rome.

Room Tip: Opt for the upper floor suite. It does cost extra, but the view from the terrace and the size of th...

I decided to book this hotel due to to its vicinity to the airport... I could not have done a better decision.
We arrived very early in the morning of our first night and we were not expecting to check in. Vincenzo, did his best to give us a room within the next 20 minutes and while we were waiting he offered us a coffee (a proper italian one!). He was one of the most helpful person I have ever seen working in a hotel, always smiley and ready to help you at any time. He also arranged transportation to central rome for a resonable price and gave us good suggestion where to eat that night!!!
The shuttle bus service was really convenient but we were not expecting to find such a nice person driving it. Mr Rocco was absolutely amazing!!!! not to mention the breakfast attendant Laura. She was very good at making cappucinos and even though she could not speak english very well, she was able to make the breakfast area very cozy so that people could feel themselves at home.

A part from this rooms were absolutely very clean and tidy. the surroundings of the hotel were a littl bit run down. However, the local restaurants were not full of tourists (which means food was very good)

We (4 of us) had a delightful overnight stay at the Best Western Hotel Riveria, Fiumicino. We were coming off a cruise and leaving by plane the next day. It was close to the airport and supplied a shuttle, which was added on to the room cost. Staff were very helpful and the room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The little patio was a treat!! It was within walking distance of good restaurants and stores within the town. The bonus was being a block from the beach. We took advantage of all of it...a nice way to spend our last day in Europe.

Picked this hotel because of its' proximity to the airport (FCO) and was a good price. Very helpful and friendly staff, room was basic but very clean, and price included buffet breakfast. Internet access kind of weird and required multiple logins....was not a one time login process like most systems. Frequent (and inexpensive) shuttle service to the airport which is about 15 minutes away.
This hotel is close to the beach and there are shops, restaurants and stores close by for purchase of travel supplies or food. Nice place for a morning walk prior to a day of travel. Central Rome is about 35 minute drive from the hotel. Hotel provides shuttle service for about 12 euros.
Overall was a good overnight experience and recommend this hotel for a short stay!

It is a BW franchise run by east Europeans in a dilapidated section of the town near the beach front. Our room was basic, clean and comfortable with a TV and fridge. The bathroom was large by European standards for this type of hotel. Service at reception was average, breakfast was not a highlight. The airport shuttle worked on time at departure (although we battle to find it on arrival and waited for it for nearly an hour).
We found and excellent restaurant in the beachfront, maybe a mile away towards the town center.
I would consider using it again just for a night close to the Fiumicino Airport.

This is a very nice hotel - there is a lot of room in the breakfast area and there is even a small parking lot. We drove to this hotel and the directions we had did not take into account all of the one way streets so it was a little hard to get to. If this is your last night in Italy this is a great cheap place to stay as it was only a 15 minute drive to the airport on a route that was very well marked.

Getting there was not easy.....and streets have been redirected. Hotel parking lot is small and some of the hotel's construction materials were laid by the parking lot entrance to the hotel.
Hotel staff was not friendly, seem to have an "attitude". There was no one to assist in carrying the luggage, nor give any verbal assistance when we made inquiries as to restaurant suggestions....(since they didn't have a restaurant on the facilities).
We were glad to leave.

fiumicino97, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at BEST WESTERN Hotel Riviera, responded to this review, November 21, 2011
Dear Mr. Bernard,
may we firstly thank you for staying with us at Best Western Hotel Riviera, last October 18th 2011.

We are deeply sorry to learn your stay with us was not as positive as we all wished for, despite our daily commitment in providing services up to our clientele expectations.

Hopefully you will find the following to your satisfaction

The coastal town of Fiumicino is undergoing a major urban transformation due to the work in progress for the new marina PORTO DELLA CONCORDIA which will be built just 1 mile north our hotel and will be, when finished the largest tourist marina in the central mediterrenean sea. The marina project is having a significant impact on the city road's design and its parking spaces as they are all being update in order to meet the new demand. Unfortunately due to the complexity of this project some roads are at times closed to allow men and machines to work faster generating one way streets and odd roundabouts.

Although clearly marked with street signs the pace of the road works do not allow maps on gps navigation systems and online resources to be updated fast enough to avoid getting lost.

In regards to the small amount of off-cuts insulation panels you noticed sided in our parking lot they are part of our yearly programmed maintenance to keep our establishment up to the chain's standards. Due to national disposal regulations these panels, although non toxic, cannot be disposed in standard recycle bins and are required to be treated by specific building disposal companies. The off-cuts where picked up and disposed properly the same day.

Our front office personnel strive to give the best of their very best to accommodate guest's requests managing a wide range of situations.

Our Hotel is located just 50 yards from the beach front promenade filled with many family managed restaurants. All of them are generally good and reasonably priced according to the customer's picks and wine choices. We try to be unbiased and fare to everyone asking for a restaurant advice, we believe that pointing clients in the right direction and let the final choice to be inspired by the menu on display and the restaurant atmosphere has proven to be the best way to experience the gourmet scene on the beach front restaurants rather than let our personal culinary taste to limit the experience.

We regret once more to hear your dissatisfaction, we are sorry and look forward to having you again and have a pleasant time with us.

Thank you again for taking the time to bring your thoughts to our care.

Arrivederci !
