“Great for Layovers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2008

We stayed here on a layover from Athens before our return to Canada. It's a bit of a hike from inside the airport especially if you have a fair amount of luggage (then add a 1yr old) but it's easier than catching a cab downtown and returning the next morning.

Our room was great with a King size bed and a cot for our daughter and still room for her to run around. Only draw back was that the minibar didn't keep items closed and so I couldn't put her bottle of milk in there but nothing that a bucket of ice couldn't fix.

Front staff were great they even agreed to put the ice pack for the milk into their freezer overnight so that it was ready to keep her milk cold for the long flight home.

The shuttle downtown was easy to get but remember it's about a 30min ride so pick your schedule time you want to take the shuttle accordingly. I suggest that you show up about 10mins early as the bus fills up quickly and its first come first serve.

All in all it was a good hotel and we'd stay there again for the one night to catch our flight.

While this may not be the swankest Hilton you ever stay in, for an airport hotel it fits the bill. We were able to prepay in dollars, which took the sting out of the Euro exchange rate.

The first night we stayed here, we missed the shuttle downtown by 5 minutes, only to find the next shuttle wasn't for two hours. (They run at 4 PM, 6 PM, 8 PM, etc, for what that's worth.) To get to an 8 PM dinner reservation, we had to go back to the airport (though it's close, it is NOT a five minute walk despite what every hotel employee tells you. Especially with a suitcase in tow, it's at least 10 minutes), take a train to Trastevere, and then a tram to Piazza Argentina in the center. The moral of the story: don't miss the shuttle.

The second night we stayed here, coming in from Sicily before an early morning flight back to the US, we were inadvertently put into a smoking room. Once again, we had approximately 10 minutes to check in and race back for the shuttle downtown if we wanted to experience Rome on our last night so we didn't have a chance to check into another room. We really hustled to make it on time, only for the driver to stroll on board 5 minutes late, draw us a walking tour though we insisted we'd been to the city before. The shuttle took a good 25 minutes to get downtown, so we really had from 8:30 PM until the last bus back at 11 PM. Not ideal, but for free, you make it work. Upon our return home, Hilton apologized for the room mess-up and offered a small discount.

The first room we stayed in, in the red corridor (2nd floor), seemed very recently remodeled and was modern and in perfect working order. The second room, in the blue corridor (4th floor), was more run-of-the-mill, generic musty hotel room.
Internet is available but requires access codes and costs money, not to mention is located next to the bar--not so exciting. You stay here for one reason: to get 15 extra minutes of sleep before a flight out. And for that, it's just fine.

Front desk was friendly & efficient. Concierge was very helpful in locating a bank to exchange liras. Location is great for visiting Rome (free shuttle bus) & sky bridge to airport for plane & cruise ship connections. True, the food is pricey, but there is always the airport food court! Had a great visit, as usual.

We had three rooms for a post cruise stay before our flight home. The rooms were nice, but the front desk staff had barely veiled arrogance. The hallways in upper floor look like prison blocks, extremely dark and forbidding. The halls are also in fairly poor repair. The restaurant is ridiculously priced. Expected at resorts, but not for this location ($24 hamburger). The pool picture is deceiving and there are swim lanes set up that you can not remove.
As for the walkway to the airport; the elevator is so slow it is quicker to climb the stairs(3 flights) and most of the moving walkways do not work. If you are traveling to the states you must leave from Terminal 5. You need to take the walkway over and then get on a different shuttle to the terminal.
We had to beg the hotel to give us a lift in the hotel shuttle. We had two seniors, two teenagers and 12 bags of luggage plus carry-ons.
If you do not care how you are treated, feel free to use this hotel.

Stayed one night in June pre-cruise. Very nice to be able to collect your luggage and walk the short distance to the hotel via a covered walkway. We were able to check in right away, around 12:45pm , and catch the 2 pm shuttle to Rome. It dropped us at a train station, but I think this was only a temporary arrangement.

The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We ate breaakfast in the executive floor lounge due to an upgrade, which was nice. Check out was quick with everything being correct.

Hello,

We stayed in this hotel for one night on July. Like everybody, to be able to catch the early flight.

Long waiting in check-in, hotel is busy.

Restaurant is truly expensive when comparing it to the e.g restaurants in Rome city centre. Pasta 16,50 (normally max 10 eur) and glass of very poor white wine 8.50. Italy is full of good wines but they managed to choose one of poorest that I have ever tasted. Drinks over 10 euros.

Hotel is naturally full of americans and this has an impact on breakfast choices and probably also on prices as well.

If you absolutely have to stay here, go late and leave early. Or use the nice shuttle service and eat in beautiful city centre!

We chose this hotel because we had an early morning flight and utilized our Hilton Honors points for this location which would have otherwise been extremely expensive and NOT WORTH the $350 plus Euros. However, we arrived very early the previous day so that we could hit Rome in a day. We utilized their free shuttle into Rome from the airport which was quite a bit late. The front desk was helpful, rooms are average to any other American Hilton style room which was supposed to be smoke free but did have an odor. This is a very hustle and bustle hotel being that it is adjacent to the airport. However, they have all of the amenities for the traveler and made our early morning flight experience comfortable. They do have a gym and pool at this location. We only had one meal in their restaurant and it was excellent. It was unusual that this property did not have a gift shop or snack bar of any kind if you needed something.
