Didnt much like the scary cathedral but St Brigid's well (which they'll direct to you) is a magical little place. The Round Tower is worth a look though, and we're going to go back to see the Irish Stud which was closing as we arrived but looks amazing!

“The St. Brigid's Cathederal and Round Tower are MUST SEE sites!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

I'm perplexed that the "Heritage Centre" is listed on TripAdvisor... but not the impressive CATHEDERAL, ETERNAL FLAME and ROUND TOWER of Kildare - all sites and shrines to St. Brigid of Kildare, the patron St. of Ireland (pre-dating St. Patrick). At 33 meters in height (about 108 feet), the Kildare Irish Round Tower is the 2nd tallest (of 65) remaining medieval round tower in all of Ireland and it is the ONLY round tower that is OPEN to the public for access all the way to the top! The view is amazing, and the "ladders" that take you to the top exhilarating if not downright frightening. From the top of the tower, look down upon the impressive St. Brigid's Cathederal, and the pit of the Eternal Flame. A block or two further towards town center is the Tourist Information Office (the subject of this listing!). About 1.5-miles to the south of town is the original St. Brigid's well.

“Informative”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Lots of info here but under estimates distances especially for persons walking around Kildare. Didn't seem to know what shops are in the area.

“Very interesting, well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

The staff at this centre are excellent, up stairs they have a audio video that last about 15 min
Taking in the history of the town & especially St Bridget.
Also across the square is St. Bridget's cathedral & round tower. One of the finest round towers in Ireland & one of two towers that you can enter.
A must if you are in the area
