2 weeks at the Royal Kostas was lovely. Rooms very clean, regular sheet and towel change. Location very good. Quiet but close to all restaurants and bars. Lovely bakers just across the road. Beach wall to wall sunbeds and umbrellas but 10 mins walk to left or right and you are on your own - perfect. Shame Thompson not here next year!

Room Tip: Higher floor overlooking pool better - countryside view as well.

Booked via Thomson Holidays with transfers included, flight good.
The Royal or Royal Kostas Hotel is a complete chill out holiday. Rooms are spacious and clean with plenty of wardrobe and draw space. Bathroom has a nice big shower and is of a good size. We had a ground floor room with a balcony near the pool and bar. Because there is no entertainment we never had a problem with noise. The drinks are reasonably priced for a Hotel with the glasses kept in a freezer ( nice touch). The pool is cold but clean as is the pool area. Old man Kostas who people complain about does not speak English, and why should he, but he was always on hand to help I dont think he was miserable or rude as other reviews have stated.
Downside: Towels only changed twice a week if you want extra changes its 5 Euros
Tv useless but I dont go on holiday to watch tv.
I dont think this Hotel is suitable for Children although the beach is not too far away there is nothing apart from the Hotel pool to occupy them.
When you go to the bar for a drink and leave a tip they ring a bell!! Why? I found it awkward if I didn't tip and why should you every time you buy a drink. This practise should stop.

Overall we had a fabulous time totally chilled and met some really nice people from England.

The food in the local restaurant is very good. Lunch at Doctor of Food across the road from the Hotel (kebabs) or the Kebab shop near the beach. We also loved the stuffed peppers and tomatoes at George's Restaurant just off the seafront.

Shopping: the nearest supermarket is just across the main road, it's the first one you come to and the cheapest we found. Others shops with T shirts bags and souveniers were all very welcoming and well priced. Never once thought I was getting ripped off and they leave you alone to brouse.

Room Tip: Looking from the Bar the rooms on the right of you seem to be the best

Just spent 2 weeks at the Royal Hotel and had a fabulous time. The staff are so friendly and will help with anything. The location of the hotel is perfect - just a 5 minute walk away from the start of the main road down to the beach and the same from the nearest supermarket and bakery. The resort is quiet but has lovely restaurants, I suggest you try Avra and Flegra - don't have a big lunch as portions are big and desserts come comlimentary in most places. The pools at the hotel are clean and there are enough beds for everyone without the need to reserve! Mention must be made of Kostas who seems to be there morning, noon and night and always has a sarcastic quip for the guests - all done in jest I might add. Christos the owner is also very nice - a big thank you from me for sorting out the problem with our camera - saved us having only 15 pictures. The hotel is leaving Thomson next year as Christos has developed his own (very good) website which will help him deal with guests direct and save the customer money. Overall the place was spotless with rooms cleaned daily all done without intrusion. I highly recommend the Royal as the perfect place to stay in Polichrono.

We booked this very late as could not make up our minds, and knew Polichrono and the hotel.
On this visit we where in a room with a balcony over looking the pool it was very good for checking the sunbeds etc in mornings and yes there is a towl on bed set up but if after so long you move them and wait.the room was neat and clean and kept that way by cleaners daily. The pool is cleaned by Kostas every day,the bar is good and not over priced.
Going by other people this is the better hotel purely as the other Thomson hotel is further away from the village down hill going but a slog on the the return with or without food/beer.
As before the s/market on the left walking in is better stocked and cheaper and on the opposite corner a bread and cake shop, also if you buy bottles of beer to take back you are charged a a small amount so return is an option. The beach sand and stone check out either end for your own space. Or short walk by turning right at the cake shop just out side the main village with some large houses on the left after about 5 mins with a turning on the right there is a foot path to the left and a beach to your self in early July and sept.

Room Tip: South facing with balcony pool side or the ones to the side with part or full pool view.

Really enjoyed our stay. Hotel is certainly value for money. Very helpful and friendly staff. Cleaned our room virtually every day. Everything clean and smart. Had an issue with the toilet and they had a plumber in within an hour to fix. Polichrono is a good resort with plenty of choice for those that want to eat traditional Greek menu. Will be back in the future
