We spent a week at the Harbor Reef Surf Resort in a suite with a full kitchen and a large deck. Newbies need to know that there are no hotels or houses or inns on the beaches of Nosara, but the Harbor Reef is as close as you will get; a quick walk down the road, followed by a jungle trail. You'll know you are at the beach when you see the grave yard, which is whole attraction in itself. From our deck, we could hear the pounding of the surf on the long, wide open beach. This hotel has two small pools, one at the bar which is open to diners and hotel guests and a private pool for hotel guests only, with hammocks and lounge chairs under the shade of banana trees. Really lovely. The continental breakfast is a heaping plate of fresh fruit, yummy, but the OJ is not fresh squeezed so skip that. Great staff, with lots of surf knowledge. I loved the cry of the howler monkeys at dusk and dawn and easily fell into the sweet rhythm of beach, sun, sand and great, fresh food. Don't miss the weekly organic market on Tuesdays! We stocked up on papayas and fruit for the whole week.
Ask for a room or suite in the 'old' part of the hotel that is off the road. The road is rut...

Thank you so much for your great review! It was a pleasure serving you during your stay and we are glad you enjoyed our close proximity to Playa Guiones and the waves. Thank you for the feedback on our continental breakfast as well. This is now included for our guests daily here at the hotel.
