“Well worth the two hour drive from the RIU. Changed my life forever.”
My fiance and I came to Costa Rica and stayed at the RIU Guanacaste not knowing much about Costa Rica. We are both animal lovers and activists so we decided to rent a car and drive from our resort to Nosara. We were greeted with open arms by Brenda and he troop of monkeys. For the fist hour she educates her guests on the wildlife in Costa Rica;the problems facing the monkeys and other animals. She isn't there to preach or collect money, she simply wants others to understand what is going on in the country. Not only does she educate you but she also shows you EXACTLY where the money goes to. Never have I ever encountered a Non for profit organization that allows you to see how much money they make the debt that they're in. Brenda also explains how she came to live in Costa Rica and how she got involved with rescuing monkeys. The 50$ donation fee seems like the absolute least that we could give, so we also brought gifts and purchased a calendar. Anyone who is thinking of going to Costa Rica, has to visit the rescue, it will change your life forever (if you believe in kindness and love animals). At the end of our trip, my fiance proposed to me in the garden while Brenda was taking photos of the entire proposal. Afterwards, she was just as surprised as I was and began to cry. She gave us both a hug and asked that we stay in contact; she is that genuine and kind. Brenda and her husband Randy and living proof that one person can make a difference if you stand up for what you believe in :)
