“FULLY RESTED.....”

My wife and I have just returned to a cold and windy UK after 7 wonderful days at The residence what a treat, we were regaally looked after(thanks for the villa upgrade)The service was great the food was top quality the villa very (very) comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. We should have got out and about more but....
Its a long way for only 7 days but amazing to think that 18 hours from leaving your door we're back in the depths of rural England. We 'd love to come again but will look closly at one of your other sites.
Thanks again for starting our joint 60th year off so memorably.

PS one small critisism, a colder mini bar please.

Room Tip: The sea front villas are great because of the view but the garden villa look to be the same with no...

Luxurious from the beginning of our trip to the end..we stayed at a pool villa, amazing view from the room, amazing staff and service, gorgeous grounds u can see with the provided bikes, stunning pool, and beautiful jetty. Food was always amazing and the menu changed every night, we had a great romantic dinner in the villa, breakfast was the highlight of the day, a great selection and being served in the villa is such a treat, the spa is alright, We've tried better, but a massage is always good.
Overall wonderful, the most luxurious in Zanzibar!

The staff & service are just amazing. The hotel, facilities and grounds are beautiful. The suites and amenities gorgeous. Loved riding around on the supplied bikes. The view is beautiful & pristing. The food was very good standard and interesting themes. We only had a quick visit but would highly recommend for those wanting something a bit different, a place that is truly relaxing and where the little details are taken care of. No request was a dram - staff were just so attentive and accommodating. Sunset cruise was absolutely beautiful - definitely do it. We were there as part of a work trip and required catering for our departure - the Food & Beverage Manager (name - Soon) and Chef both met with me. They were so professional. Soon is a credit to this establishment, he was so lovely and gracious. Take away food was of a high standard. Hope to come back and would highly recommend to our clients.

Room Tip: It is a bit of a drive from the airport so, as long as you are aware of this its not a problem.

My husband surprised me by taking me to The Residence, Zanzibar for our honeymoon last year Feb. I didn't know what to expect but was absolutely speechless when we arrived.
From the very first person that greeted us, the service was exceptional. Something that other places should take lessons from.
We were whisked away to our private Sea-Front Villa on a golf cart and on arrival we were shown around the villa. I could not stop looking out on to the stunning view. Blue Skies, blue sea, the beach just foot steps away but the most beautiful of all- the silence. Just the pleasant sound of the soft waves and the palm trees swaying slowly in the wind- thats it!
I had never seen anything like it before....it was pure heaven!
The food in the resort was fresh, and tasteful. The dinning experience was unique as the head chef would personally ask his guests if the food was ok, and if not if there was anything else he could prepare for you.
We tried out some excursions including, the sun-set cruise (absolute bliss to say the least), and snorkelling (the husband enjoyed this more!). We also treated ourselves to a trip to the spa, which was excellent.
Overall our experience at The Residence, Zanzibar was just amazing and we would highly recommend it to anyone.
We would love to go back someday!

Room Tip: Beach Front Villa is a must!

Stayed at The Residence in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar last week with my mother. The Residence has many fantastic qualites which can be summed up by stating that the setting, staff and service are top class. I took advantage of the opportunity to snorkel, it was great fun. The water is clear and warm and the guides friendly and knowledgable- this is free to hotel guests. We arranged an outing to a spice farm tour through the hotel which was really interesting. I highly recommended this resort.

Stayed here with my family in early January, the service is the hotel is excellent as is the accommodation and food. It is a pity that they have closed the Library bar as it would have pleasant to go for a drink in the evening away from the restaurant bar. I felt it lacked a centre in the evening after dinner. However this is a personal choice.
Overall a good experience and would recommend.

My husband, son and I had an absolute ball here over the new year period.
Staff are attentive, kind and always willing to help. This I believe is down to the top tier managers all being Mauritian and French. Having travelled to both places many times, it was evident they are trying to bring their level of service to this African island. Many reviewers talk about the bumpy road approaching the hotel..really not an issue, try trekking in Costa Rica!
Villas are stunning, well maintained and cleaned to the highest standard. We had a garden view (217)? Second row we called it...and we're thrilled, as we had foliage covering our pool, we often went skinny dipping! Boating staff are extremely friendly and cool and a special thanks to "trumpetfish"! Who was delightful with my 12yr old son. We did the sunset sail tour but as no wind managed to swim with dolphins instead!
Food...if you have been to Mauritius/Seychelles/Maldives...much the same....good quality fish and produce served by efficient staff and cooked by European chefs. All beautiful presented and delicious.
All in all a great hotel and holiday location. Now the downside:(
Airport transfer $116 each way...sorry we are sitting ducks,...surely a hotel of this standard includes the 45 minute transfer ..or build it into the cost?
Husband and son went diving..was it necessary to put another $60ish for their transfer to diving location..surely spending money on the island is helping the local economy ..the diving school should pick up that cost
An unwelcome visitor in my room New years Eve...a snake...apparently it's unusual! Ok I understand that, but a bottle of champagne at dinner that night to compensate...maybe a few dollars off the bill might've helped!! I was totally freaked! Admittedly the hotel offered to move me to another room..2 nights before I leave when I've settled in..not an option!!
More hobie cats...we tried twice to sail in the afternoon ( as its tidal here, so no sailing in the mornings) but to no avail.

Despite the above would recommend a stay here, honeymooners will get peace and tranquility and families are extremely well looked after

Room Tip: Garden view....opposite presidential villa...they are not overlooked
