“Very well run hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

This is a nice, low rise place with large aparments. The small complex has well tended flower beds and it is kept very, very clean and well maintained. The staff are terrific.

It was low season when we stayed so no entertainment but the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. The manager Manos cajoled us into playing bingo one evening as a couple of ladies were keen players. The bemusement of the Russian guests at this pass time made it amusing and we enjoyed it. (not a sentence I ever thought I'd write.)

We found the food to be perfectly satisfactory and plentiful with one or two really nice dishes particularly the specials. The fresh pizzas , straight out of the oven, were delicious.

It's about 50 yards from one of the town's nice beaches, maybe a hundred to the next. The beaches vary - sand , shingle, some shallow some sloping deeply and perfect for swimming and it's worth having a stroll along the front to find your favourite.

If I was going to pick a fault I would say I'd have preferred quieter or no piped music in the bar/restaurant area, especially at breakfast, but that's a matter of personal preference and wouldn't stop me going back.

This was an extra treat and we were not disappointed

Room: The bungalows were not available so we were given an apartment which comprised: A large bedroom, kitchen, lounge with 2 sofa beds and a large balcony, which easily accommodated the table and 4 chairs supplied. The room was kept spotlessly clean, linen and towels changed regularly. Hot water available at all times.

Pool and Hotel Grounds: Well maintained and the pool was kept immaculately clean.

Bar and Restaurant: The bar staff were efficient and polite and there was never any wait to be served. The food was varied and was of good quality, however the breakfast were cold in their containers however after a discussion with Manolis(the temperatures were increased). There were times when food trays became empty but a request to the staff would soon remedy the situation. The pizza night of which there were two, was very good as was the barbecue night.
Everyone has different tastes in food and you cannot please everyone.

Entertainment: The Greek evening was very entertaining although it only occurred once in the two weeks and there was a Magic Show one evening, plus the
occasional game of bingo.

Location: Very near to beach, supermarkets, bars and restaurants..

This was early in the season and the staff and management at the Blue Agean were friendly and very polite however if you want non-stop entertainment or waiters to cater for your every whim this is not the place to go.

we have just returned from the blue Aegean on the 17/05/2013 we had a good holiday except the food was cold mornings and evenings and there was not enough food for the amount of people staying there. Most nights a number of guests went out to local restaurants because of the poor choice of food offered to them.

Being a regular visitor to Crete to see family, i decided to stay at the Blue Aegean as family house was full up.. May is a normally a quiet time of the year, however Manolis and his team were fab.. Everything you need is on hand, and if its not the staff are there to help.

Rooms are clean, and are cleaned as promised. The pool and bar area is spotless.. All the sun loungers are cleared away daily. Food is plentiful, and variety is good. OK, it wasn't hot at times, however after you have a word with the staff, this was resolved. If you have any issues, just speak to the staff, they will bend backwards to help you have a fab holiday.

There is a well equipped gym downstairs as well as a table tennis table and a games room available. Entertainment in the evenings during the first week of the season is limited to 1 or 2 nights a week, however the Greek night on the Sunday i was there was brilliant, and the chap on the Bouzouki was superb.

The hotel is situated 60 seconds walk from a wonderful beach which looks over the sea and a island that everyone asks about. There is a few Greek Taverna's close by which will cater for all and a short walk of 15 minutes will get you the tourist street where you can buy souvenirs and sample the Greek Lifestyle. You can hire Cars, Scooters and Jeeps very locally.

Highly recommend a stay here, if you want a relaxed week or 2 weeks in the sun, you
can't go wrong staying here. I will be back.

This was a lovely holiday, very much recommended for families (but see below). Food was lovely; heat overwhelming (it was august). Beaches on the doorstep - and lovely waves in the sea - apart from one day - HERE IS THE WARNING TO FAMILIES - when the waves really scared us (be prepared if you have young children; it is quite dangerous - waves were strong enough to pull my bikini top off - least of my worries as I also lost hold of my daughter's hand though I promised her i would keep hold through the breaker as we made our way back to the beach- we both emerged from the sea shaken and covered with small grazes from the pebbles - my daughter crying in terror - lost goggles and half her swimming costume, but she was ok - some other holiday makers ran down the beach and helped us come out. Holidaymakers unaccustomed to the way this beach can change (no regular life guard on duty) need to be aware of this.

Recently returned from a great 10 days at the Blue Aegean. We were late in the season so hotel was quietish but this didn't spoil our fun. Our holiday was 'All Inclusive' and was value for money, plenty of food at all meal times, drinks available from 10:30am to 11:00pm, ice cream from 3pm-5pm and tea/coffee/cakes from 4pm-5pm.

Most of rooms are either poolside or within 20 yards and are either in 1 or 2 storey blocks, our room was bigger than we expected (1 bedroom apartment with large living space, kitchen area, bathroom etc) and was kept spotless through our stay by the excellent maids. Air Conditioning was free which was a nice bonus but this may have been because of our low season booking.

The hotel is 50 yards from the beach, sea was great and sunbeds/umbrellas were 5 euros per day. A few bars and tavernas were also within 50 yards although we generally stayed at the hotel. A few nights of entertainment but again I guess there would be more during the main season.

We have travlled on many Greek holidays and without doubt Manolis and his staff were the most helpful and friendly we have encountered so far. This is mainly a family run business and nothing was too much trouble for them, everything was done with a smile and they made our holiday.

I would recommend this hotel, particularly for a quiet, relaxing and easy holiday.
